Are you proud to drive a truck from an American company? Well, the trucks from domestic brands aren’t exactly the most American-made options. Only one domestic truck made it on the top 10 list of the most American-made vehicles and it isn’t a full-size model.

The Jeep Gladiator is the only domestic truck on the top 10 American-made list

The numbers are in and they show that Americans aren’t driving the most American-made trucks. The only domestic truck to crack the top 10 is the Jeep Gladiator

The Gladiator landed in eighth place and the Honda Ridgeline came in sixth. The Ridgeline is currently the most American-made truck available.

Overall, the most American-made vehicle is the electric Tesla Model Y. The old Ram 1500 Classic is in 19th place, the Toyota Tundra is in 20th, the Chevy Colorado landed in 23rd, The Hyundai Santa Cruz came in 38th, and the Ford F-150 is the 58th most American-made vehicle.

What’s surprising is that the Ford Maverick, Ranger, and Toyota Tacoma didn’t crack the list of the top 100 American-made vehicles.

But that makes sense as the Maverick and Tacoma are made in Mexico. The Ranger is built in Michigan,  Thailand, South Africa, and Argentina.

The Jeep Gladiator is built in the Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Complex. The Jeep Wrangler is also built there, which is odd because it’s in 30th place on the American-made index. 70% of the Jeep Wrangler parts are made in America while 30% come from international facilities.

The data is compiled from the American Automobile Labeling Act (AALA). It requires automakers to report the overall percentage of United States and Canadian content by value based on vehicles sold.

Unique percentages are based on powertrain, trim level, and assembly location. The origin of the engine and transmission could be from other countries, bringing the scores of trucks assembled in the United States down.

Each automaker’s direct workforce involved in manufacturing light-duty vehicles and their parts are factored against the automaker’s U.S. output.

Also, Jeep is the most patriotic brand. So, it’s fitting that the Jeep Gladiator is the most American-made domestic truck.
