1 Ford Truck Is Extremely Green and Another Is Really Mean
It’s time to look at a gas guzzler and one of the most efficient trucks. Both options are in the Ford lineup. It’s so diverse with the Ford Maverick Hybrid as an extremely green option and the Ford F-150 Raptor R as a thirsty beast.
The Ford Maverick and F-150 Raptor R are the best and worst on fuel
According to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), the Ford Maverick Hybrid is the greenest truck you can buy.
ACEEE provides vehicles with green ratings based on their fuel economy over 15,000 miles, EPA ratings, emissions, tailpipe emissions, manufacturing emissions, recycling uses/disposal, fuel type, vehicle weight, vehicle class, hybrid battery replacement costs, and battery weight.
The Ford Maverick Hybrid has a green score of 55 out of 100. It came in sixth place on the list of Greener Choices and has an estimated annual fuel cost of $1,297.
The Honda Accord is in first place in this category with a score of 61 and an annual estimated fuel cost of $982.
Vehicles with the best green ratings are on the Greenest list, which includes hybrids, PHEVs, and EVs. The Toyota Prius Prime is the greenest option with a score of 71 and an annual estimated fuel cost of $521.
The Maverick falls in the Greener Choices list because this grouping doesn’t include EVs or PHEVs because some drivers have inadequate access to charging stations.
But the ACEEE also provided a list of the top 12 Meanest vehicles, which have the worst fuel economies and lowest fuel efficiency ratings.
The Ford F-150 Raptor R is the third Meanesit vehicle with a green score of 24. It has an annual estimated fuel cost of $3,777. The Ram 1500 TRX which is being discontinued is worse than the Raptor R with a score of 22 and an annual fuel cost estimate of $3,819.
While the Ford Maverick Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 40 mpg on the highway and 33 mpg in the city, the F-150 Raptor R gets an EPA-estimated 10 mpg in the city and up to 15 mpg on the highway.
The Maverick gets an extra 25 mpg on the highway than the Raptor R. But the Maverick Hybrid cranks out 162 hp and the Raptor R provides 700 hp.
