Buying used cars is a great way for car shoppers to save a lot of money on their purchases. On top of that, there are a lot of used cars in every single segment, so most car shoppers won’t have to make a compromise on what type of car they want. In regards to the used SUV with three rows segment, one model dominates the list of used cars that cost under $15,000.

The Buick Enclave has three spots on the list

U.S. News recently compiled a list of the best used three-row SUVs that cost under $15,000. There was a three-way tie for eighth to tenth place between the 2015 Nissan Rogue, the 2013 Chevy Traverse, and the 2012 Toyota Highlander. All three SUVs had an overall score of 8.4 out of 10, though the Traverse was the cheapest as it started at around $9,500. 

Then there was a four-way tie for fourth to seventh place between the 2013 Ford Flex, the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, the 2014 Buick Enclave, and the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. All four used models had an overall score of 8.5 out of 10, and the Flex was the cheapest of them all as it started at around $11,500.

The top three options, however, were dominated by the Enclave, as it claimed two spots out of the three. The 2009 Toyota 4Runner came in at second place. This means that the Enclave had three appearances in the top five.

2014 Buick Enclave

The 2014 version of the Enclave starts at just over $13,000, and some used car buyers have paid just over $15,000 for theirs. This version of the Enclave was great at the time, as it provided drivers with exactly what they wanted from an SUV with three-rows of seats. Just like with the current model year, the Enclave could seat seven passengers in a comfortable manner. 

Its 3.6-liter V6 engine got 288 hp, but it was thirsty as it only allowed the Buick to get an esimated 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on highways, for 21 mpg combined. Buick also gave the Enclave an “upscale interior,” and it was large and spacious too. With the seats folded down, owners had access to 115.2 cu. ft. of cargo space, which is more than what most other SUVs offer.

2012 Buick Enclave

This version of the Enclave is the last version before Buick gave the SUV a mid-cycle refresh. As such, it has a lot of similarities with the 2014 and 2013 model years, but there are some big differences as well. The engine is the same, as is the Enclave’s fuel economy and cargo capacity.

That being said, that mid-cycle refresh gave the Enclave a lot of interior cabin upgrades, so this version of the SUV is missing out on that. However, it does mean that the 2012 Enclave will be more affordable. It starts at just over $9,000, and it’s unlikely for car shoppers to pay more than $10,000 for this used SUV. Plus, this version of the Buick has an overall score of 8.6 out of 10.

2013 Buick Enclave

The best affordable used SUV with three rows of seats is the 2013 version of the Buick Enclave. It starts at about $12,500, and some potential owners may pay upwards of $14,000 for theirs. It has the same specs as the 2012 and 2014 versions of the SUV, but the 2013 model year was when Buick gave the SUV a refresh.

As such, its cabin is better than before, and it comes with new standard features, such as a rearview camera. It also has an overall score of 9 out of 10.
