With inflation, most things are more expensive these days, including pickup trucks. It can be difficult to find one that doesn’t put a strain on your budget. However, there is a notable exception. Only one new 2023 pickup truck costs less than $25,000 — and it’s American: the 2023 Ford Maverick.

With a starting price of $22,195 MSRP, the 2023 Ford Maverick compact truck is the only new 2023 pickup truck available in the United States that costs less than $25,000. It’s the cheapest new truck that you can get. 

The Maverick remains the most affordable new pickup truck despite a price increase for the 2023 model year. It costs $1,200 more than the 2022 Maverick, which starts at $20,995. 

Something to keep in mind about the 2023 Maverick, though, is $22,195 is the starting price — and doesn’t include things like options, accessories, packages, fees, and taxes. Plus, with markups, a Ford dealership might charge a higher price.

Furthermore, the $22,195 MSRP is for the base-level Maverick XL trim. The XLT ($24,455 MSRP) and Lariat ($27,955 MSRP) trims cost more. However, the Maverick is still a bargain, regardless of the trim level.

2023 Maverick also offers much value with its many standard features

When you factor in its many standard features, the American 2023 Ford Maverick offers much value. Even for the XL trim, you’ll get a wide array of useful features. This includes an 8.0-inch infotainment system touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, remote keyless entry, LED headlights, and a rearview camera. Also, all Maverick models come standard with the unique FLEXBED, which enables a variety of flexible configurations and DIY solutions.

Further adding to the affordability of the Maverick is its high efficiency, especially for the standard hybrid powertrain. The Maverick Hybrid gets an estimated gas mileage of up to 42 city/33 highway mpg, while the gas-powered Maverick gets a fuel economy of up to 23 city/30 highway mpg.

What are the cheapest new 2023 pickup trucks available?

The cheapest new 2023 pickup truck available in America is the 2023 Ford Maverick — and the next most affordable one is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz compact truck, which starts at $25,450 MSRP. Also, the Santa Cruz and the Maverick are the only two new compact pickup trucks available in the U.S. However, given the success of the Maverick and Santa Cruz, other automakers will likely release compact trucks in the coming years.

Here are the cheapest new 2023 pickup trucks available, along with their starting prices. Also, for two of the trucks, the official 2023 price information is not yet available, so for these ones, we listed the starting price of the 2022 models. You can expect a cost increase for the 2023 versions.

While there are some pickup trucks in the $25,000-$30,000 price range, the only new one for 2023 that costs less than $25K in America is the 2023 Ford Maverick. If you’re looking for the most affordable choice for a new pickup truck, then Maverick is the one to get.
