1 of the Best Things About the 2021 Kia Soul Has Nothing To Do With the Car
No matter how you feel about the Kia Soul, it’s in a class of its own in many ways. It has a unique boxy shape, quirky interior features, and a set of commercials featuring dancing hamsters. Critics like U.S. News also seem to agree that it’s a great car.
However, some people don’t know one of the best reasons to buy a Kia Soul: it has an outstanding warranty.
The 2021 Kia Soul has an outstanding warranty
When you purchase a new car, it almost always comes with a few warranties. There’s a general warranty, which covers the manufacturer defects and small repairs, such as worn brake pads. A corrosion warranty covers any rust that might appear prematurely on the car. A roadside aid warranty is also included to cover emergency tire changes or tow jobs.
The drivetrain warranty is usually considered the most important one. It covers crucial components of the car like its engine, transmission, driveshaft, and wheel axles. This warranty also usually lasts the longest out of the four.
The Kia Soul’s general and roadside aid warranties last for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. According to Car and Driver, it doesn’t cover regular wear and tear, but Kia does offer limited maintenance coverage. The corrosion and drivetrain warranties last for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
Is Kia’s warranty a good deal?
In the Kia Soul’s class, this is one of the best warranties you can get. It lasts much longer than the warranties of rivals like the Nissan Kicks and Mazda CX-30. Both of these cars have powertrain warranties for five years or 60,000 miles. The general warranties of these two cars only last for three years or 36,000 miles.
Most every manufacturer offers some kind of warranty for its vehicles, so be more concerned with how long the warranty lasts. Expensive components, like a vehicle’s transmission, are more likely to deteriorate later in the car’s lifespan.
Is the 2021 Kia Soul a good car?
In addition to the Kia Soul’s great warranty, many riders appreciate its generous interior space. Both small cars and small SUVs are great commuter cars, but often have insufficient room for every passenger. These cars also usually don’t have high cargo capacities either.
However, the Kia Soul’s interior is a welcoming place for all passengers. It can seat up to five occupants, with plenty of headroom and legroom in the second row. Even the basic cloth seats offer enough comfort and support for extended drives.
The Kia Soul also has large door openings for a car its size, which is great for taller drivers. The driver’s seat is placed high enough to get a good view of the road. The front seats also have comfort options like heating and power lumbar adjustment.
In terms of cargo, a little more than 24 cubic feet of space is available behind the rear seats, With those folded down, that number jumps to 62 cubic feet of space. If that’s not enough, there’s also an optional dual-level floorboard to deepen the load floor.
Unfortunately, the base engine of the Kia Soul could potentially turn away some drivers. It’s a 2.0-liter four-cylinder capable of 147 hp, paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT. You can get a stronger turbo engine on the aptly named Kia Soul Turbo, but it costs $10,000 more.
No matter which engine you have, the Kia Soul is easy to maneuver and there’s good feedback from the steering wheel. The suspension is a little jittery over bumps, but that’s to be expected from a small SUV. Overall, the 2021 Kia Soul is a good value, especially with its long warranties.
