From a brand known for all-wheel-drive vehicles and ones with off-road capabilities, the 2021 Subaru Legacy offers a surprise. This midsize sedan keeps its surprise inside, and buyers testing the 2021 Subaru Legacy will find an unexpected level of luxury and comfort in the cabin. Here’s a look at what comes standard and which trims provide even more.

The interior of the 2021 Subaru Legacy

U.S. News says the interior of the 2021 Subaru Legacy “rivals some luxury vehicles with its well-appointed and upscale cabin.” It also describes it as “well-built and sturdy.” The interior is filled with high-quality materials and soft-touch surfaces. It also has plenty of room for passengers. The seating for five is all comfortable, with plenty of space even for tall people. The driver has good outward visibility too, says U.S. News.

The Legacy provides lots of standard tech features as well. It has a large trunk opening, making it easy to put things in. The overall size of the trunk is smaller than average for the class, though, at 15.1 cubic feet.

The standard interior features to expect

The 2021 Subaru Legacy comes standard with lots of technology, including an infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen that U.S. News says is user-friendly. It has buttons to control basic audio and climate changes. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A larger 11.6-inch vertical tablet touchscreen comes standard on all trims except the base one. Also standard are a four-speaker stereo system, two USB ports, satellite radio, HD Radio, and Bluetooth.

The 2021 Legacy provides a number of standard advanced safety features, says U.S. News: “adaptive cruise control, adaptive headlights, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, and a rear-seat reminder.” The Legacy’s standard seats are upholstered in cloth.

The available interior features in the 2021 Subaru Legacy

The 2021 Subaru Legacy offers a number of available upgrades to the cabin space on its six trim levels. In addition to the base trim, the others are Premium, Sport, Limited, Limited XT, and Touring XT. The Premium trim adds the 11.6-inch touchscreen, two rear USB ports, a six-speaker audio system, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control to the standard features.

The Sport trim adds proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and two-tone upholstery. The Limited trim provides a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system plus leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and heated rear seats. It also adds the safety features of blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic emergency braking.

The Limited XT trim adds a heated steering wheel, navigation, and a moonroof. It also has driver drowsiness monitoring. The Touring XT is the top trim. It has Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated seats. It also adds a 180-degree front-view camera.

The 2021 Subaru Legacy

In addition to its space and comfort, the 2021 Subaru also comes standard with all-wheel drive. However, J.D. Power gave it low predicted reliability ratings, says U.S. News. Its “base engine lacks oomph.” Luckily, it proclaims the turbocharged engine to be “capable.” The base engine is a 182-hp four-cylinder engine. The second engine is a 260-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, which is standard on the top two trim levels. Both engines are paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Prices range from lower than average at $22,895 for the base trim to higher than average at $36,145 for the Touring XT trim. The 2021 Subaru Legacy is one to consider, especially for buyers who like a plush and comfortable cabin.
