If you’re considering purchasing a midsize truck, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is an option. In the Frontier lineup, there are several trim levels to choose from. For many experts, the recommended model is the Frontier SV. Although it has many excellent qualities, one attribute stands out above the rest. The optional packages are the primary reason to buy the 2023 Nissan Frontier SV over the S base model. Two of them are unlocked with the SV trim and turn the Frontier into a luxurious, capable midsize truck. It’s worth buying for the added optional equipment.

According to Edmunds, every 2023 Nissan Frontier uses a 3.8-liter V6 engine under the hood. It’s capable of producing up to 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Unlike many other trucks, there is no alternative engine in the Nissan model’s lineup. However, most reviewers enjoy the potent and smooth-driving Frontier unit.

Depending on body style, a Frontier’s equipment can vary slightly. However, here’s what you can expect to find in an S base model. It comes with 16-inch wheels, push-button start, cloth upholstery, a tilt-only steering wheel, a six-speaker sound system, an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and forward collision mitigation.

Although it isn’t much, the SV trim gets a few more standard features on top of the base model equipment. They are upgraded 17-inch wheels and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. That’s not much, so what makes the Frontier SV worth buying?

The only reason the 2023 Nissan Frontier SV trim is worth buying is for the optional packages. Not only does it gain a few more features over the S trim, but it also gains access to far more. Although they cost extra, the SV Convenience and SV Premium packages unlock with this trim level. Fortunately, the two include essentials most midsize truck drivers will want.

For example, the SV Convenience package adds a spray-in bed liner, adjustable bed tie-down cleats, bed under-rail lighting, two household-style power outlets, heated mirrors, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a trailer hitch with a wiring harness, proximity keyless entry, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Next, the SV Premium package is a little less equipment-heavy. It only adds a few amenities, a 10-speaker Fender sound system, simulated leather upholstery, LED headlights, and a sunroof.

How much is a 2023 Nissan Frontier SV?

Buying a 2023 Nissan Frontier SV isn’t much more costly than an S base model. The midsize truck starts at $31,785, but the upgraded version is just $34,585. However, the optional packages are the highlight, but they also cost extra. According to Nissan, the SV Convenience package is $1,990. Additionally, the SV Premium package is another $2,790.

Although costly, the packages provide a lot of equipment without making the Frontier too expensive. The SV trim with both packages costs $39,365. That’s slightly less than the starting price of the PRO-4X model at the top of the lineup. However, it’s a little more expensive than the PRO-X model, which is much lesser for off-roading than the PRO-4X. We’d recommend skipping the PRO-X model altogether if you’re going over the SV trim.

Reason the Frontier SV is worth buying

In conclusion, the 2023 Nissan Frontier SV is worth buying for the optional packages. With this trim level, buyers get access to many more features. Additionally, the options are customizable to your liking because they’re available in two packages. If you don’t want something, don’t buy it and pay less than you have to for higher trims. Overall, the SV trim isn’t too much more expensive than the base model, making it a well-rounded value-filled trim for the midsize truck.
