1-Story Camper Vans Are So 2020 – In 2021 We Do 2-Story Campers
Remember way back in 2020 when everything was crazy, and people were rushing to buy RVs to escape the caustic political, health, environmental, or any other number of stressful world events… Oh, that’s still going on. Right. Well, even if 2021 is starting a lot like 2020, this new double-decker camper van will at least give us something to look at as a distraction.

SAIC has really put itself out there for this one. As noted by MotorTrend, if you feel that this camper is a bit over the top, you aren’t wrong. Over the top is kind of the point here. The Chinese company responsible for this towering condo on wheels is all about excess.
As it’s rolling down the road, the Maxus Life Home V90 doesn’t look all that big. Once parked, this thing opens up with some flair and drama.
The top raises to expose the second floor of the camper, and the sides also expand outward to really flex on the big Class A RVs. All this expanding and popping up results in over 200 sq ft on the main living space and another 133 sq ft upstairs. That’s basically a Manhattan apartment, but on wheels, and that’s pretty impressive.
Ugh, going upstairs is so 2020
That’s right! Seeing as it’s now 2021 and campers come with an upstairs, that shouldn’t mean you have to actually walk or climb to get there. Well, the Maxus has your back. It is equipped with an elevator. You read that right. Once the elevator takes you up to the sunroom (yeah, it’s called the sunroom), the panoramic view greets you with tranquil views.
If you find that the view is more crowded or less tranquil than you want, you can hit the switch and toggle the privacy glass to the opaque mode.
The lower level widens to over double the size of the top floor. It is fitted with tons of seating, a fancy OLED TV, and a kitchenette with a full stove and oven. There is also a bathroom/shower combo.
There is a downside to this ultra-lux camper
Seeing as how it is made in China and we don’t import it, so if you want to roll around in the double-decker camper, you’ll have to hang in China. If someone it does it get here, it ain’t cheap. The Maxus Life Home runs an eyewatering $413,000.
Although getting one here would be quite hard and illegal – and very expensive, how good would it feel to turn your nose up at a Class A camper bus as you literally look down on them from your weird, luxury glass sunroom? Now that I say it out loud, it doesn’t really seem worth it.
Well, if we have learned anything about the automotive world in the past year, it’s that there are more camper builders than most of us, including myself, ever knew.
