1 Swedish Wagon Is the Best Supercharged Car According to TrueCar
If you’re looking for a car with a lot of power, you can forget about finding one with a naturally aspirated V8. Automakers have turned to using superchargers in their cars in place of large engines in order to add power while maintaining fuel efficiency. To help car shoppers looking for fast cars, TrueCar put together a list of the “Best Supercharged Cars.” Surprisingly, there’s one Swedish wagon that tops the list.
Which Swedish wagon is the best supercharged car?
According to TrueCar, the 2022 Volvo V60 Recharge tops the list of the best supercharged cars in the market. Technically, it’s a wagon, but it’s a good one. The folks at TrueCar noted, “The 2022 Volvo V60 Recharge makes a compelling case for the continuation of the wagon. It can carry bikes, dogs, and kids, often at the same time, and still hustle through curves with the moves of a sport sedan.”
It’s also powered by a 2.0-liter, inline-four engine that’s not only mated to a plug-in electric motor but it’s also turbocharged and supercharged. The setup is able to put out 455 hp and 523 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels, which is impressive. But what’s even better is that it can get up to 31 mpg in mixed driving situations, according to the EPA – in addition to 32 miles of all-electric driving. We can see why it’s at the top of the list.
A supercharged and turbocharged Audi took second place
The second car on the list of the best supercharged cars is the 2023 Audi S6. In years past, the S6 was supercharged, but for the new model year, the luxury sedan’s power comes from a dual-charged setup. Specifically, a supercharged and turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine that puts out a whopping 444 hp.
This power matches well with the premium luxurious features and materials the Audi S6 has to offer. It also provides plenty of room for five passengers and all of their stuff, thanks to a large trunk area. The S6 is fairly fuel-efficient, too, as it’s able to return up to 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
An American car took third place on the list
Surprisingly, the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V took third place on the list. However, we weren’t as surprised when we took a closer look at its specs. The Cadillac CT5-V is available in two different trim levels, but the most popular one is the Blackwing model. This high-performance model comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 668 hp through the rear wheels.
That type of power is able to rocket the car up to 60 mph from a standstill in only 3.4 seconds. Don’t expect it to be fuel-efficient, though, as it returns up to 13 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.
