Only 1 truck will offer a manual transmission in 2025
It’s almost the end of an era for trucks with a manual transmission. A decline in sales and an attempt to make trucks more affordable have led to this decision. However, some trucks used to be cheaper with the third pedal.
Only one 2025 truck has a manual transmission
If you want a manual truck, your options are getting extremely limited. The 2025 Toyota Tacoma is the only truck that still has a manual transmission.
This comes after the 2025 Jeep Gladiator made a strange decision to drop its six-speed transmission. This feels like the wrong move for supporting off-roading, but it will help drivers save a little.
With the 2024 Gladiator, the six-speed manual was standard. It costs $2,500 to upgrade to the eight-speed automatic transmission. Now the 2025 Gladiator is only $205 more than the 2024 Gladiator manual.
It has a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Details about the Gladiator 4xe remain scarce.
The 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tacomas have an available turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 and 310 lb-ft of torque when paired with the six-speed manual transmission.
If you opt for the eight-speed automatic transmission, then the engine provides 278 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. The standard variant cranks out 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque.
Also, the hybrid engine pairs the turbocharged unit with an electric motor and a battery pack to generate 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
If you want a manual but don’t want a truck, there are a few options to consider. The standard 2025 Jeep Wrangler is only available with a manual transmission.
You have to upgrade from the 3.6-liter V6 engine with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque to the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 and 295 lb-ft of torque for an automatic transmission.
The Ford Bronco pairs a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 300 hp and a 325 lb-ft of torque with a seven-speed manual.
Cars like the Ford Mustang, Mazda Miata, Hyundai Elantra N, Kia Forte, Nissan Versa, Toyota GR Supra and more are still rocking manuals.
