$10 Million Classic Car Collection Belonging to Bob Dean Heads to Auction
If you don’t know who Bob Dean is, that’s OK. Bob Dean owned many nursing homes in New Orleans, allowing him to amass an extensive classic car collection. He is now a disgraced owner of a bunch of nursing homes, thanks to some bad moves. Dean had an insane classic car collection worth more than $10 million that has now been seized due to his absence in court. Now, this entire classic car collection is for sale in June through Henderson Auctions.
How Bob Dean got his $10 million classic car collection
According to Becker’s Hospital Review, Bob Dean owns seven nursing homes around New Orleans. When Hurrican Ida wiped out the area, Dean was supposed to evacuate 843 residents out of harm’s way safely. Instead, he bussed the nursing home residents to a warehouse on August 27, 2021.
The warehouse was only meant to hold 200-400 people, which meant terrible conditions. An investigation was launched after four residents died, and 15 more needed hospitalization. The state pulled his nursing home licenses days later, and his Medicaid provider agreements were terminated. The death toll reached 38 residents before he laid off over 1,000 people. All seven facilities remained closed, and the lawsuits started pouring in.
Fast forward to this week, The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Dean’s entire classic car collection has been seized. More than 1,000 vehicles will head to auction. The court found that Dean was in contempt for failing to appear at a court date earlier this month. His car collection was seized as collateral.

The paper reports that the first owner was a “young French industrialist called Cyriel Depery, who joined the French Resistance after the Nazis took over the country,” the paper reports. A photo of Depery driving the Delahaye through Annecy, France, on August 20, 1944, when it was liberated.
The 1939 Bugatti Type 57C Gangloff Coupe is one of 700 ever made. A similar one sold for nearly $800,000 before the car industry took off in 2020. Another one sold for over $1.5 million recently. He also had a 1938 Peugeot Darl’mat, 1947 Buick Roadmaster, and a bunch of Corvettes. Starting with a 1964 Cheetah replica, a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and three more regular Chevy Corvettes.
