Still, although many PHEVs provide 30 to 40 miles of electric range, some have drastically less. Here are 10 PHEVs with the worst electric-only range based on EPA ratings.

10. 2022 Volvo XC60 T8 AWD Recharge

According to Consumer Reports, this PHEV has only 19 miles of electric range. CR says the 2022 Volvo XC60 T8 AWD Recharge offers a refined interior and comfortable seating. However, its groaning engine and rigid suspension don’t provide the most enjoyable drive.

9. 2022 Porsche Panamera 4 and 4S E-Hybrid

Both of these Panamera models get about 19 miles of range. The 4S E-Hybrid is the more powerful of the two, with 455 hp on tap and a top speed of 174 mph. The braking system gets mixed reviews from critics, but both models still boast exciting handling.

8. 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Sport PHEV

Also offering 19 miles of range, this luxury hybrid SUV produces 398 hp and is silent in EV driving mode. The PHEV model boasts an intelligent digital gauge cluster that displays the available range and mileage estimates. It also has a built-in navigation system that shows the most efficient driving routes.

This midsize sedan has 19 miles of range, a potent turbocharged engine, and a well-balanced suspension setup. Also, the 2022 BMW 530e xDrive is a CR Recommended pick thanks to its first-class interior quality and quiet operation.

Still, CR praises the 2022 BMW 745e xDrive for its swift acceleration and interior worthy of its six-figure price point. Still, testers wished it were slightly more athletic to match its engine’s speediness. In addition, the ride isn’t the most comfortable, and the steering wheel lacks adequate feedback.

Offering only 15 miles of electric-only range, the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S/Coupe E-Hybrid is the least efficient PHEV according to EPA estimates. The good news is it’s quick, with up to 670 hp under the hood. The adjustable air suspension also gives it a smoother ride than many sporty sedans.
