Specifically, the Accord’s cabin isolates road and wind noise quite nicely.

The 2022 Nissan Altima is next, with an MSRP range of $24,900 to $34,600 and fuel economies between 20 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway. Despite its relative dullness, it’s among the quietest in its class, has excellent reliability, and has a simple, easy-to-use infotainment system. The only perceived downside to the Altima is its lackluster handling and suspension system, which creates an equally bland driving experience.

Third for midsize sedans is the 2022 Subaru Legacy, with 19 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and starting MSRPs ranging from $23,495 to $36,695. Although it has low levels of road and wind noise, the flat-four boxer engine will shout when the accelerator is pressed hard.

The second half of the quiet midsize sedan list starts with the 2022 Toyota Camry, which ranges from $25,845 to $36,270. Toyota’s Camry is one of the best midsize sedans based on its comfortable, quiet ride, fuel economy ranging from 20 mpg in the city and 49 mpg on the highway, and intuitive controls. Overall, the cabin is serene, but the hybrid version is the quietest. In addition, the Camry features an available all-wheel drive option for enhanced traction in slippery conditions. 

The 2022 Kia K5, tagged between $23,790 and $31,190, gets 20 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway with its standard four-cylinder engine. The K5 shares the same platform as the Hyundai Sonata, but some prefer the Kia’s quiet cabin.

Last on the quiet midsize sedan list is the previously mentioned 2022 Hyundai Sonata, with a starting MSRP of $24,150, going up to $34,750. Moreover, it provides a fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 46 mpg on the highway. Although the Sonata shares the same platform as the Kia K5, the Sonata features a standard 2.5-liter engine.

Quietest large sedans

First on the list of quiet, large sedans is the 2022 Chrysler 300, beginning at $31,770 to $42,155 for the top-tier model. The available 5.7-liter V8 reduces fuel economy to 13 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, but opting for the 3.6-liter V6 improves efficiency. With a supple ride quality and a peaceful cabin, the 300 is a real bargain luxury car.

The 2022 Dodge Charger, with MSRPs ranging from $32,500 to $75,900, suffers from the same poor fuel economy as the Chrysler 300 with the 5.7-liter V8. However, the cabin is quiet and well-equipped, with many promoting it as another bargain luxury sedan.

With trim levels ranging from $36,825 to $44,150, the 2022 Toyota Avalon gets the best fuel economy of the large sedans on the list, with 32 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway. Furthermore, it is the best way to get luxury ride quality for mass-market money. Yet, some wish its ride height was taller to improve access. 

Last on our list of 10 quiet sedans is the 2022 Nissan Maxima, which fetches between $37,840 to $43,150. The Maxima’s 3.5-liter V6 is powerful, smooth, and quiet under all conditions, as well as offering 17 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. However, the continuously variable automatic transmission, stiff ride, and low roofline detract from overall enjoyment.
