A collector with over 300 cars in his collection has decided that it is time for some of that collection to be sold off. So, he reached out to a professional detailer to bring some shine back to a few cars at a time. One car, in particular, needed some immediate attention, a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray 427. The potentially six-figure car had not moved in over thirty years. The detailer happens to have a Youtube channel and recorded the Vette’s cleanup process to help educate people interested in detailing.

The professional detailer is a Youtuber

Larry Kosilla has a Youtube channel called AMMO NYC. The channel follows the development of his professional detailing company. He’s been posting videos for seven years. So, when Mr. Kosilla was called in by a collector to do some work that could take months, Mr. Kosilla cautiously responded. Before he agreed to do the work, he wanted to see the collection so that he could determine the amount of work needed, the paint condition of the vehicles, etc.. He, of course, shot a video of his time walking through the building for his channel. There were Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, a Bizzarrini, Plymouths, Lotuses, Fords, etc. The video is below.

Fortunately, Mr. Kosilla agreed to work on the collection. That is a good thing because he is chronicling his work on his Youtube channel. This allows viewers to see a few cars in the collection closely, and learn how to lovingly bring back the shine to them. Below is the perfect example. This video covers him giving a silver 1967 Corvette Sting Ray its first cleaning in over thirty years. 

The Corvette needed help

The video clearly shows the Corvette needs help. Not only is there dust, dirt, grease, and grit on the vehicle, but the chrome is pitting, the whitewall tires have discolored, and the interior has toilet paper nests of some kind of creature that tried to make a home in the vehicle. There apparently an odor to it too because by the end of the video Mr. Kosilla says the Corvette even smells better. 

The Corvette’s interior treatment

The video starts by going into the interior of the Corvette. He discusses how to best approach cleaning it while at the same time taking care not to damage it. In the process, he covers the solutions he uses and gives tips on when and how to use steam machines. He addresses carpets, seats, the dash, and steering wheel. In some cases, he does multiple passes on the individual part he is working on. 

Addressing the Corvette’s exterior

The video then covers how Mr. Kosilla treats the exterior of the Corvette. A foam soaking starts the process. From there, he dries the vehicle and goes back to address problem areas, like the glass and grease deposits on the paint. Then he compounds the paint before protecting it. Finally, he addresses the best course of action for bringing the luster back to the chrome around the classic vehicle. 

The shine is back

This collector has a collection large enough to necessitate the need for multiple buildings. Mr. Kosilla has calculated that it will take him two months to go through the cars in the first building with his detailing touch. Thankfully, Mr. Kosilla is giving us glimpses along the way. The video of the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray is one of those glimpses that turns out absolutely incredible.
