Only 2 2022 Ram 1500 Trims Are Worth Buying
If you’re considering buying a brand new full-size truck, the 2022 Ram 1500 is an option. As one of the most popular pickups, it’s earned its reputation. For the 2022 model year, the Ram 1500 is touted as a comfortable truck with an excellent ride quality, a luxurious interior, and many amenities. However, there are many trim levels in the lineup, so which should you choose? If you’re not after maximum towing or hauling capacity, there are only two 2022 Ram 1500 trims worth buying.
Which 2022 Ram 1500 should you buy?
You’ll find a few different answers if you’re searching for the best 2022 Ram 1500 trim. Within the lineup, there are eight different trim levels that vary significantly in equipment. Moreover, it’s worth noting the Tradesman base model is the perfect choice for anyone who requires a work truck. Pickups have many different uses, so if you’re just looking for something to beat up that can tow and haul, the cheapest Ram 1500 is a viable option.
However, many other trim levels serve different purposes. Unfortunately, we don’t think the Big Horn or Lone Star trims are worth buying. They mostly add non-essentials like chrome bumpers, body-colored door handles, and extra interior storage. However, stepping up to the next trims is the best move. Buyers who want to get the most out of the many features and luxurious interior of the Ram 1500 should buy the Laramie or Rebel trims.
Edmunds recommends the Ram 1500 Laramie
According to Edmunds, the 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie is the trim level to buy. “It’s in the middle of the lineup from a pricing standpoint and is available with plenty of powertrain and feature options.” The Laramie trim starts at $51,835 and is very well-equipped. The publication says it moves the full-size truck further toward luxury than the Big Horn or Lone Star models take it.
For example, the Laramie model has forward collision mitigation, nine speakers, Ram Connect, Wi-Fi access, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, remote engine start, leather upholstery, and much more. With all of the added equipment over the base model Tradesman, the $10,000 price increase doesn’t seem so bad. Edmunds loves the 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie for the immense value it provides.
Car and Driver prefers the 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel
Contrarily, Car and Driver like a more expensive version of the 2022 Ram 1500. However, it isn’t much of a price difference for what it provides. The Rebel is the performance version of the full-size truck, and it’s got the chops to show it. It’s also the off-road-oriented model, adding a few things to make off-roading that much easier.
First, the Rebel trim has more aggressive styling, LED exterior lighting, a power-sliding rear window, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, cloth and vinyl upholstery, and much more. For off-roading, the automaker provides owners with many tools of the trade. For example, an upgraded suspension with a raised ride height, all-terrain tires, a full-size spare, hill descent control, underbody skid plates, tow hooks, an electronic locking rear axle, a Class IV trailer-towing receiver hitch, rubber floor mats, and more.
C/D says the Rebel is the Ram to get for a few reasons. “We’d opt for the crew cab with four-wheel drive, and we prefer the extra power and sexy rumble of the V8.” In addition, C/D likes some of the many features available as options starting with this trim level. With such a wide variety of options, it’s difficult to ignore the off-road performance truck.
2022 Ram 1500 trims worth buying
In conclusion, only two 2022 Ram 1500 trims are worth buying. If you’re looking for a luxurious full-size truck with excellent amenities, the Laramie is the simplest answer. It’s got much more to offer than lower trims without breaking the bank. Additionally, those looking for a high-performing, off-road-capable, luxurious full-size truck can get the Rebel. It’s the perfect alternative to the expensive TRX or Ford Raptor.
