While Hyundai and Kia’s models take up almost every spot on the top 10 list of the most stolen cars, they aren’t alone. Along with two Honda models, two American trucks made the list. These pickup trucks are stolen pretty regularly.

Two trucks are stolen as much as Kia and Hyundai models

It’s no secret that the Kia boys and inadequate security measures on older vehicles made Hyundai and Kia popular among thieves. But two trucks are stolen just as often.

On the list of the top 10 most stolen vehicles in America, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is in fourth place with 23,721 reported thefts. The Ford F-150 is in ninth place with 15,852 reported thefts.

The Hyundai Elantra tops the list as the most stolen car with 48,445 reported thefts. The Kia Optima is in third place as the most stolen model in the lineup with 30,204 thefts.

Also, the Kia Sportage is in tenth place with 15,749 reported thefts. So, the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado sit right in the mix between 15,749 and 30,204 reported thefts.

On a quick note, the Honda Accord is in sixth place at 20,895 and the Honda Civic is in seventh with 19,585 reports.

According to Automatic Technology, Kia and Hyundai models are targeted because they’re easy to access. Most models have keyless entry, making them easy to exploit. The key fob signal can be cloned. Plus, older models don’t have immobilization tech.

The trucks are stolen for different reasons. For example, they’re extremely popular models to own. The F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado are often the top-selling vehicles every year.

Plus, there is a high demand for replacement parts. If the trucks aren’t being quickly resold then they’re being parted out. Tires, bumpers, and headlights are popular parts.

Be sure to always lock your doors, park in lit-up areas, keep valuables out of sight, and use steering wheel locks to beef up protection.
