Lincoln is the luxury arm of Ford, and many Lincoln models are going to be classier and upscale versions of Ford models. Although Lincoln owners seem to be happy with their cars overall, that doesn’t mean that Lincoln’s SUVs are perfect by any means. Here’s a look at the two areas that Lincoln owners want the luxury automaker to improve on their SUV.

Here’s a recap of J.D. Power’s APEAL study

J.D. Power recently published its review of the 2023 Corsair, and it was positive overall. That said, one of the most important factors to consider when buying a car is not just what car critics have to say about it, but also what real owners thought about the car. This is why the site’s APEAL study is so valuable, as it’s an annual study that asks thousands of verified owners about what they liked or didn’t like about their cars.

The study had some interesting findings as far as the Corsair goes. 55% of new Corsair buyers were men, and that’s less than the 62% segment average. The average age of someone who buys a new Corsair is 68, and that’s much higher than the segment average of 55. The study also asked owners how much they liked their car based on 10 different categories.

Overall, the study found that owners were most impressed by the Corsair’s exterior styling. Owners were also impressed by how it felt to drive the SUV and how safe they felt when they were in the car. The whole process of setting up and starting the car was also an area that drivers liked. The last category that made the top five was the car’s luxurious interior design. 

Lincoln owners didn’t like the infotainment system on the 2023 Corsair

The car’s driving comfort was in the bottom five, as well as the process of getting in and out of the car. Owners also didn’t like the car’s powertrain, but the category that scored the second worst was its infotainment system.

It’s unclear if the owners who responded to J.D. Power’s APEAL study had access to the latest version of the Corsair or not, but nevertheless, Lincoln did upgrade the SUV’s tech features recently.

The compact luxury SUV now features a 13.2-inch horizontal touchscreen, a massive improvement over the 2022 model year’s 8-inch touchscreen. On top of that, Lincoln gave the Corsair its latest infotainment system, which is called SYNC 4.

In comparison, the prior model year had SYNC 3. Furthermore, the luxury automaker gave the SUV a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display as a standard feature. It used to be an optional one. 

Lincoln owners also weren’t satisfied with the economy of their 2023 Corsair

The area that owners liked the least was its fuel economy. However, it’s unclear if owners were unsatisfied with the Corsair’s fuel economy in general or if they were disappointed in the fuel economy of one of the SUV’s powertrain options. Currently, Lincoln offers two powertrain options for the SUV, though it offered a more powerful one in the 2022 model year that the company has since dropped.

The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that gets 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The optional engine is a PHEV, and it gets 266 hp combined. The most efficient configuration for the standard Corsair gets 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on highways, for 26 mpg combined.

The PHEV option, however, gets about 78 MPGe combined and can also go 28 miles in battery-only mode. Those fuel economy numbers are about average for an SUV.
