2 Dead Jeep SUVs Are Being Resurrected
Things over at Jeep and Stellantis have been pretty rocky. The brand is facing a steep sales decline with no end in sight as Stellantis scrambles to get things back on track. Riving two dead Jeep SUVs with affordable prices might help.
Two Jeep SUVs are being brought back to life
If Stellantis releases two Jeep SUVs with more affordable prices then they might be able to get sales back on track.
Turning Jeep into a luxury brand has not gone as well as expected as inflation and gas prices have consumers turning to smaller, affordable, and efficient options. But it is worth noting that the Jeep Wrangler PHEV is the most popular plug-in hybrid in America.
Anyways, the first dead Jeep vehicle that’s slated to return is the Jeep Renegade. It originally debuted with an MSRP of $15,000 and the 2023 model started at $27,850.
It never gained a new engine in America and only received light tech upgrades. Stellantis really dropped the ball by neglecting this Jeep and making it too expensive.
Stellantis CEO, Carlos Tavares shared that he doesn’t regret pulling the Renegade because it wasn’t making money. But he wasn’t the CEO when it was messed up.
Now the 2026 Jeep Renegade will be a lower model in the lineup. It will have an internal combustion engine and an EV variant. It’s currently slated to start at $25,000.
That would make it slightly cheaper than the Jeep Compass, which is about six inches longer than the discontinued model.
The next dead Jeep to return is the classic Jeep Cherokee, which has been discontinued a few different times. It’s expected to arrive sometime after the Renegade.
There aren’t any concrete timelines or details about the Cherokee yet. However, instead of roughly matching the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it will be a smaller model.
The Jeep Lineup will expand from 10 to 13 global models by 2027, More Jeep SUVs sound exciting, but is this a classic Stellantis mistake?
It seems like they’re focusing on too many vehicles at once, just like how juggling 14 automotive brands has become too much.
Stay tuned for updates, but I predict a few cancellations and changes will be made.
