Only These 2 Ford F-150 Lightning Trims Are Available for Purchase
The Ford F-150 Lightning has yet to release, and it’s already a hit. The Blue Oval is planning on producing 150,000 F-150 Lightning trucks annually. That’s nearly double the original annual production numbers. Unfortunately, there are only two F-150 Lightning trims available for purchase for the upcoming 2022 F-150 Lightning.
Half of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning trims are already sold-out
The Ford F-150 Lightning is truly living up to its name. It strikes quick, strikes hard, and then completely disappears into thin air, just like Lightning. News of the F-150 Lightning’s capabilities spread like wildfire, and Blue Oval fans quickly reserved the electric pickup truck.
There’s clearly a demand for the first fully-electric Ford pickup truck, but there are supply issues as well. There are over 200,000 F-150 Lightning reservations. According to InsideEVs, the two most affordable F-150 Lightning trims are already sold out. That’s right. You can’t buy an F-150 Lightning Pro or F-150 Lightning XLT if you haven’t already reserved one.
This is great news for the Blue Oval. Fans of the F-150 Lightning are out of luck for the moment, but at least they can check out some solid reviews of the first two trim levels before committing to buying one.
The only two trims available for purchase are the Lariat and Platinum trims. The 2022 F-150 Lightning Lariat starts at $67,474 before incentives. The Platinum starts at a whopping $90,874.
Why is the F-150 Lightning so popular?
Ford currently produces the most popular pickup truck in America, the F-150. Since Ford is electrifying its most popular nameplate and adding new features, consumers are naturally curious about what the EV has to offer.
The Blue Oval has championed the F-150 Lightning’s power and practicality. The base model is also more affordable than some of its rivals. Most F-150 Lightning trims are much more affordable than the first mass-produced American electric pickup truck, the Rivian R1T.
The F-150 Lightning is already popular because Ford is known for producing quality workhorses, and the electric truck offers even more utility than gas-powered models. The most capable F-150 Lightning trims can power tools, appliances, and even houses. The F-150 Lightning is a tool in itself.
The Blue Oval is marketing the exciting Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning as the cornerstones of its electric future. These nameplates have a key role in the introduction of Ford electric vehicles. They are the foundation that the American automaker will build the future of the brand upon.
Should you buy a Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat or Platinum?
The Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat and Platinum are both much more expensive than the entry-level Pro trim and the XLT trim. Though they offer plenty of unique features, the average American probably doesn’t need the $90K final F-150 Lightning trim level.
The Pro and XLT trims are within the price range of the average consumer, hence why they sold out so quickly. If you want the benefits of more range and all the goodies that come with these high-priced models, the Lariat and Platinum truly represent the truck’s full potential.
