Only 2 full-size trucks have V8 engines for 2025
First I had to watch diesel engines bite the dust. Now full-size trucks are continuing to lose their beefy V8 engines. Now for 2025, finding a truck with a V8 engine may feel limiting. Only two automakers ar have V8-powered trucks for 2025.
Only two full-size trucks have V8 engines for 2025
The two full-size trucks with V8 engines for 2025 include the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Technically, the GMC Sierra 1500 also has V8 engines, but it’s the Silverado’s twin. They have the same engines, but the Sierra 1500 is a luxury truck.
Unfortunately, the Toyota Tundra dropped its reliable V8 engine in 2022, the Ram 1500 discontinued its V8 engine for 2025, and the Nissan Titan is being discontinued. It’s taking a stout and durable V8 engine with it to the grave.
With the 2025 Ford F-150, you have two choices. There is an available 5.0-liter V8 engine with 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the F-150 Raptor R model with the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine with 720 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque.
The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 also offer two V8 engines. The first option is a 5.3-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
However, despite lacking V8 engines, the rest of the full-size trucks available still offer an impressive amount of power.
The Ram 1500 has a new 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six Hurricane engine. The High Output variant delivers 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque.
With the 2025 Toyota Tundra, the most powerful powertrain is the hybrid i-Force Max option. The turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine is paired with an electric motor to generate 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque.
As full-size trucks continue to go green, more V8 engines will be at risk. They struggle to meet rising emission standards.
