Let’s face it, 2009 trucks were pretty cool and practical. These two pickup trucks from 2009 have plenty to offer buyers, but there is one you should skip over. In fact, you probably forgot it ever existed. In the history of pickup trucks, this one was a doozy.

The Ford F-150 pickup truck from 2009 is worth hunting down

Not everyone will agree, but U.S. News put the 2009 Ford F-150 at the top of its list. It offers plenty of strong engines to choose from, high tow ratings, and more safety scores than the average pickup truck from 2009. There were various ways to configure the F-150, anywhere from three to six seats, 248 to 310 hp, and rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

For pickup trucks from 2009, the F-150’s 11,300-pound tow capacity with the 5.4L V8 engine is some of the best you will see. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the pickup truck high scores on its moderate overlap, side impact, and rear crash protection. Safe and as reliable as it gets for 2009, the F-150 is a good option.

Average Price Paid: $6,864 – $15,794

Toyota’s Tundra is another full-size truck from 2009 with a lot to offer

Like the Ford, the 2009 Toyota Tundra has plenty of choices for potential buyers. It also seats between three and six passengers but has somewhere between 236 and 381 hp. Offered with a base V6 engine or two V8 engines, but the 5.7L V8 can tow up to 10,800 pounds. Either way, the Tundra is a reliable pickup truck from 2009 that you will enjoy owning.

While the Tundra is more of a full-size workhorse than a comfortable truck, it gets the job done. Dual-zone climate control, a four-speaker audio system, and an auxiliary input jack come standard. The 2009 Tundra was even an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick.

Average Price Paid: $12,395 – $22,921

You don’t need the HUMMER H2 sport utility truck

The pickup trucks from 2009 to seek out are not the Hummer H2

You probably weren’t thinking about the 2009 HUMMER H2 sport utility vehicle (SUT) when considering pickup trucks from 2009 for this list. Offering the worst of an SUV and a truck, the H2 SUT made it too heavy to actually be useful. It was capable off-road, but on the regular road, it offered lackluster acceleration. Because it was so heavy, Hummer didn’t have to give fuel economy estimates (another bad sign).

The Hummer H2 could tow up to 8,200 pounds and had an upscale interior. However, with room for only five, reviewers and owners noted the seats still felt cramped. It did come with Bluetooth, a Bose stereo system, and a six-disc CD changer. You don’t have to skip the H2 SUT, but you will probably have difficulty finding one.

Average Price Paid: $20,745 – $34,806

There are some excellent pickup trucks from 2009, like the F-150 and the Tundra, so don’t pass up on a good deal if you come across one. When people say, “they just don’t make ’em like they used to,” they were talking about 2009 trucks.
