2 Races Left in 1 Weird Motocross Season

We haven’t seen a Motocross race in October since 1992. Additionally, this season will see the latest closing race since the October 13th conclusion at Unadilla in 1991. We haven’t seen a Motocross race in October since 1992. Additionally, this season will see the latest closing race since the October 13th conclusion at Unadilla in 1991. Then there was that time Tomac won a million dollars on October 13th in 2018 at the Monster Energy Cup. However, overall we rarely see a Motocross race in October.

It’s been a weird season for everyone. After an equally strange Supercross, Motocross started up late. So far it’s been a year full of cancellations, rescheduling, and adjustment. Thankfully for fans and racers like Eli Tomac, Zach Osborne, and Marvin Musquin we get to have out Motocross––albeit late.

Last race winner: WW Ranch Moto results

On September 26, 2020, the races were held at WW Ranch in Florida. We saw a win in both 250 motos for Dylan Ferrandis at that Motocross race in October. Knowing that he’ll be moving to the 450 class in 2021, it’s good to see him at pique performance in the 250 for 2020. This is Ferrandis’ third 1-1 of the season.

Jeremy Martin lost 10 points to Ferrandis and ended the day with a 3-3. According to the recap on Racer X, Honda rider Jett Lawrence took second in the first moto. Then in Moto 2, Yamaha rider Justin Cooper rode to second. Honda and Yamaha dominated the top 5 spots in the 250 class at the WW Ranch Motocross race in October.

The 450 was exciting, too. Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne took the top spot on the overall podium with two wins as well. The KTM rider Marvin Musquin rode to third in both motos. This got Musquin into second on the overall podium. Supercross Champion Eli Tomac took third on the overall podium with a sixth-place finish in the first heat and a ride to second in Moto 2.

2020 points standing

As we head into the weekend for the eight round of nine rounds of Motocross races in October, what are the points standings? So far for the 2020 Motocross racing season, we have 2 from last weekend’s podium in the top two spots. Dylan Ferranis and Jeremy Martin are up there with 307 points for Ferrandis and 294 for Martin. Then in third, fourth, and fifth place, we see 250 riders Alex Martin with 224 points, Shane McElrath with 218, and R.J. Hampshire with 217 resepctively.

Then for the 450 riders things heat up as they move into position for the eighth round. Today, the points standings on promotocross.com show Zach Osborne out front with a 29 point lead on Adam Cianciarulo with 256 points. Then in a close third place Marvin Musquin has 255 points. Eli Tomac takes the fourth spot with 233 points, and Blake Bagget is in fifth position with 219 points. As we all know, however, pretty much anything can happen. All of these standings could be very different by tomorrow night.

Looming championship

After such a weird Moto season and just a super strange year in general, all the tension comes to a head at the 2020 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. We will see these incredible athletes face off one last time in a 2020 motocross race in October. We can expect the results of this weekend to heavily affect how things end up at the Championship in California at Fox Raceway on October 10.
