Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Sonata Hybrids Offer killer Mpg
Both the Elantra and Sonata are available with Hyundai’s Hybrid Blue technology. So, despite being roomy and usable sedans, they both see fuel economy numbers that far exceed what you might expect from your average sedan. However, even the standard hybrid models still offer some incredible fuel economy alongside the legendary Hyundai warranty.
According to U.S. News, the 2022 Hyundai Elantra is the Korean automaker’s entrant in the compact sedan class. However, despite its compact size, USN gives it high praise for its roomy interior. Of course, the real star of the show when it comes to the 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is its fuel economy numbers. Remarkably, the base model hybrid still achieves 49 mpg city and 52 mpg highway.
Best of all, the Blue trim has a starting MSRP of just $23,750. That makes one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the market relatively accessible. Additionally, Hyundai includes a 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty alongside its legendary 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
If the Elantra isn’t quite big enough, though, the Sonata offers a step up in size while retaining some fantastic fuel efficiency of 50 mpg or higher.
Get a little extra wiggle room and maintain 50 mpg with the Sonata
Like the Elantra, both the Blue and standard hybrid trim of the Sonata offer remarkable fuel efficiency. Additionally, stepping up to the Sonata offers a bit more upscale interior feel. USN’s only complaint about the Sonata is poor brake pedal feel. That is not all that uncommon of a complaint with hybrid vehicles that use regenerative braking technology.
At any rate, the Sonata Hybrid Blue still manages an incredible 50 mpg city and 54 mpg highway. That puts it ahead of both the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry hybrid competition. Additionally, the standard hybrid variant of the Sonata still nets 45 mpg city and 51 mpg highway.
The 2022 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Blue has a starting MSRP of $27,050. Depending on trim level, the Sonata Hybrid can climb as high as $35,500. While this price range is nearly identical to its competitors, the Sonata does still have an unmatched warranty.
