2 Stolen $250,000 Lamborghini Urus SUVs End up Crashing Into One Another
The attention-grabbing Lamborghini Urus became the Italian carmaker’s best-selling model seemingly overnight. Unfortunately, this Lamborghini SUV caught the attention of two teenage car thieves in Boston.
According to Car and Driver, the teens decided to throw a rock through the local Lamborghini dealership’s window. From there, each of the teens got into a $250,000 SUV each and drove off into the distance. At this point, things took a hilarious turn.
How do you steal 2 Lamborghini Urus SUVs?
This stolen Lamborghini Urus story happened almost exactly one year ago at three in the morning. According to Car and Driver, a pair of teenagers reportedly smashed Lamborghini of Boston’s primary front window. From there, a burglar alarm alerted police that a break-in had occurred, prompting a quick response. During this time, the teens looked through the dealership and found two sets of keys, each opening up a separate Urus.
Car and Driver report that as one officer responded to the call, they noticed a pair of Lamborghini Urus SUVs at an intersection. Additionally, there was a Chevy Cruze alongside the two SUVs. Since this is more than slightly suspicious, the police officer decided to pull the three cars over. Upon seeing the red and blue lights, the two SUVs took off, temporarily evading police.
As you might imagine, the occupants inside of the Chevy Cruze were immediately arrested. Car and Driver report that the people inside of the Chevy were teenagers without driver’s licenses.
The two teenage car thieves ended up crashing into one another
Since the Lamborghini Urus houses a 641-hp 4.0-liter V8 under the hood, it is not surprising to learn that the teens initially got away. Five hours later, police got a call from another police department saying they had recovered the stolen SUVs. Car and Driver report that police caught up with the SUVs just 20 miles away from where they had been originally stolen.
Despite featuring an all-wheel-drive system, a 641-hp SUV can still be hard to handle, especially for a teenager. As a result, Car and Driver report that the two thieves ended up crashing into one another. At this point, police caught up with the SUVs. One of the teenagers was immediately picked up by police while the second ran off on foot.
Regardless, Car and Driver report that the teens racked up various serious charges during those five-hour joyrides.
A stopped car brought this joyride to an end
Thanks to WCVB Channel 5 Boston, we have the hilarious video which shows how this joyride came to an end. At first, we see a Kia Soul stopped at a red light. We then see a black Lamborghini Urus speeding and subsequently crashing into the Kia. Since the second Urus was following too closely, it ended up crashing into the first one. That was the point in which the teens took off.
While it is hard to tell from the blurry video, it seems both SUVs sustained similar damage. As you might imagine, the front-mounted radiators got smashed in the crash, causing fluids to leak all over the road. Additionally, the second Urus’ hood got bent up in the collision. While these SUVs are likely not totaled, they clearly sustained some serious damage.
