Mercedes-Benz has released its quarterly sales figures and while it’s selling tons of sedans and SUVs, one stands out. The company said it sold 19,149 GLC SUVs, which sounds like a fine amount to sell. But overall, the brand sold 98,000 vehicles in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2022, meaning that 20% of all Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold were of just this one compact SUV, solidifying the GLC sales reputation.

The new for 2023 Mercedes Benz GLC comes at a unique time for Mercedes. Mercedes is trying to move to an all-electric future, but it still needs to produce gasoline-powered cars and SUVs. The new for 2023 Mercedes Benz GLC is also an important SUV for Mercedes because it sells well. So, it’s investing heavily in hybrid power and new technology, and throwing as much of it as it can into the GLC. It is available only as a hybrid, but there are six versions.

This Mercedes Benz SUV comes in several versions. You can order it either as a plug-in version or as a mild hybrid in four gas versions and two diesel versions, all with a 48-volt motor. The new plug-in version will have a range of more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) in EV mode.

Internally, and to Mercedes fans, the new GLC is called the 254, and it’s based on the 253 series. It was first introduced in 2015 as a 2016 model and replaced the blocky, but popular, GLK-Class SUV. Overall, the GLC earned a recommendation from Consumer Reports for reliability. It is also upscale and comes with all the entry-level luxury touches you’d expect like leather, navigation, and a stately interior. It’s also noted for excellent fit and finish, with easy-to-use buttons to control the options.

What is good about the 2022 Mercedes GLC?

The Mercedes GLC is not only the best-selling Benz today, it’s the company’s all-time sales leader because it combines size, space, style, and the three-pointed star. It comes in several versions, from base GLC300 to the top AMG GLC63 S. Its’ a little bit smaller inside than the BMW X3 and doesn’t hold as much cargo (56.5 cubic feet vs. 62.7), but it makes up for that with powerful engine options. The $43,850 2022 GLC 300 has several options that include all-wheel drive, intuitive voice controls, and several driver assistance packages.
