Is the Honda Ridgeline reliable?

iSeeCars says the Honda Ridgelike is quite reliable, ranking it first in the midsize truck category for reliability. It earned a score of 8.6 when factoring in reliability, value retention, and safety ratings.

Unfortunately, the biggest 2017 Honda Ridgeline problem is an issue with the fuel pump. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hosts complaints and comments from owners, many of which discuss a fuel pump issue. More than 70 comments on the NHTSA website mention fuel issues.

This can present in a few ways, like losing power while driving or not accelerating as needed. This Honda Ridgeline problem might also turn on the Check Engine Light. Some drivers said the RPMs would bounce around and act erratically too.

How many miles will a Honda Ridgeline last?

The good news is that iSeeCars says that 3.4% of all Ridgelines on the road have 200,000 miles or more. That makes it one of the longest-lasting truck options on the market. It was in the top 10 for vehicles with the greatest potential lifespan, coming in at 248,669 miles.

Even though one of the most common 2017 Honda Ridgeline problems is related to the fuel pump or fuel system, Honda did issue a recall back in 2019 for it. This recall is called Fuel Pump Feed Port May Crack and Leak (NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V053000). The NHTSA says that a crack in the fuel pump feed port can allow pressurized fuel to leak out, which could cause a fire.

Honda says this impacted 106,683 2017-2019 trucks. Drivers would have been contacted in 2019 about the issue, but some recent owner comments say that this Honda Ridgeline problem persists.

Don’t overlook the fuel injector issue

This problem resulted in some Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) from Honda and the NHTSA, which means it is a known issue. Honda reprogrammed the ECU to change the values in the fuel injectors, and this solved the problem sometimes. Otherwise, the injectors might need to be replaced.

Even though this Honda Ridgeline problem can be a pain to fix, the recall and TSB are helpful.
