For the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, which starts next week, Ram will be featuring two 1500 pickups that give enthusiasts the high and low possibilities for its popular truck. The SEMA Show is a celebration of customizing-it’s the aftermarket’s Super Bowl. Ram always has concept vehicles with customization in mind and it doesn’t disappoint this year. 

With this being the first year of the new Ram 1500 we expected it to be center stage at Ram’s SEMA booth. It calls these concepts “evil twins” just for fun.

2019 SEMA Ram 1500 Low Down

The Low Down starts with a 2019 Big Horn Ram 1500. This is Ram’s most popular 1500 model. A prototype two-inch drop kit consisting of lowered spindles and flipping the rear end above the springs starts things off. Painted 22-inch factory wheels are enhanced by Mopar wheel flares. The factory slicktop hard tonneau cover hides a spray-in bedliner for practicality and function. At the rear five-inch, black exhaust tips are prominent. The Low Down’s custom two-tone paint is separated by a wide pinstripe in Brass Monkey bronze. Up front a slotted power-bulge hood was

created for this truck but it looks like it will be a factory part based on its initial reception. Inside, a myriad of billet aluminum pieces including pedals and sill plates blend in with the stock interior. Under the power-bulge hood, things were left as it came from the factory with the exception of the new cold-air intake that will soon be available from Mopar Parts. The key to the concept was showing a doable makeover without too much customer effort, other than the paint, and to focus on some of Mopar’s available components. 

Mopar Modified Ram 1500 Rebel Concept

While the Low Down goes low, this Rebel concept goes high starting with a two-inch lift kit. Custom “Rebel Smoke” paint enhances the prototype power-bulge hood. Production 18-inch beadlock wheels support 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires. Cast aluminum running boards and Rebel graphics that will be available from Ram are featured. A Ram Bar-branded sport bar has an integrated in-bed spare-tire carrier along with auxiliary five-inch lighting. On the inside enhancements include billet aluminum pedals, painted trim, sill guards, wireless charger, and other small touches. 

While these two Ram concepts show what the average customer can do without spending his or her life savings, there will be other Ram trucks where expense and restraint will be tough to find. When we capture images of those over-the-top creations Motor Biscuit will post them, as well as info to better provide a picture of what a circus the SEMA Show can be.
