Advantages of the 2020 Chrysler Voyager LX

While it may not be turning any heads, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager LX did manage to find its way onto the U.S. News list of The Most Luxurious Minivans You Can Buy in 2020. In large part, this is due to the affordability of the Voyager. Its starting price is just $29,795, a far cry from its competitors, many of which start at $40,000 or above.

Additionally, the Voyager boasts an impressive fuel economy for its class: 19 miles per gallon in the city, and 28 miles per gallon on the highway. It gets 287 hp from its V6 engine, which makes it a good everyday vehicle.

The Voyager is also quiet and fairly spacious in the front seats. It offers a fair number of standard features, including a rearview camera. Shoppers willing to pay extra for the higher trim can opt to add a number of features. Among these are heated front seats, a rear overhead DVD player, and tri-zone automatic climate control.

The 2020 Chrysler Voyager LX may be a fairly good option if you’re looking for a regular minivan — but is it really luxurious? According to U.S. News, not so much. Since the main draw of the Voyager is its affordability, the pricey luxury features may not appeal to people who are truly looking for a budget option.

Unfortunately, without the extra features, the interior of the Voyager is lackluster. It has a disappointing score of just 6.6/10 from U.S. News reviewers, in part due to the presence of hard plastic materials mixed in amongst the soft-touch surfaces. 

The Voyager is also less roomy than many of its competitors. It seats seven, but while the front seats are decently spacious, the second and third rows are somewhat cramped. In fact, U.S. News states that the third row is really only suitable for children.

More luxurious options

Ultimately, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager LX is by no means a bad minivan — it’s simply not the most luxurious option, and may not appeal to shoppers who want a genuine luxury vehicle.

If you’re more concerned about cabin space, the Honda Odyssey is definitely worth a look. This minivan starts around $30,800, and is one of the top ranked vehicles in its class on U.S. News. It offers spacious seating in all three rows, as well as more cargo space than the Voyager. The Odyssey also perfectly matches the Voyager in terms of fuel economy.

If you’re on the market for an affordable, reliable minivan, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager LX probably won’t disappoint. If, however, you’d prefer something just a little more luxurious, you’d be better off exploring your other options.
