Although it has been absent for some years, the Voyager is not a new nameplate for the Chrysler company. Originally referred to as the Plymouth Voyager, the car’s moniker transitioned to Chrysler after the Plymouth name went away in 2001.

In June, Chrysler rebadged its Pacifica lower trims minivan as the Voyager. This means that the next-generation Voyager will practically be an affordable version of Pacifica L and LX trims while also being available in LXi. Though it is not yet a replacement for the Dodge Grand Caravan, we expect the move to be in the cards.

The Pacifica will continue unchanged though now it will only include higher-priced trim levels and that feature more equipment. With the 2020 Chrysler Voyager being a budget version of the Pacifica, exactly how much will it cost and what features will it come with?

How much will it cost you?

After the leaks of Voyager order guides were found by CarsDirect, Chrysler confirmed that the price for the 2020 Voyager will start at $28,480 for the Chrysler Voyager L trim. The van itself will go for $26,985 plus a mandatory destination charge of $1,495. Thus, making the model more than $4,000 cheaper than competitors such as the 2020 Sienna.

The Voyager LX is the next trim and will cost you a fee of $31,290; this inclusive of the destination charges. The LXi; which is the highest level of Voyager, is going for $34,490, including destination. This version is, however, not available to the public and is only meant for fleet sales.

Voyager features

The Chrysler Voyager will feature the 3.6-liter V6 gas engine found in the Pacifica, that produces 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Voyager is estimated to return 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.

The seven-passenger standard seating enables the Voyager to deliver a comfortable and smooth ride. The available SafetyTec Group includes Blind-spot Monitoring, ParkSense park assist, and Rear Path detection.

The vehicle also has a 3.5-inch information display. On top of that, it offers a Uconnect 4 with a touchscreen 7 inches in size which includes better processing power, fast startup times, high resolution and sharper graphics.

The car will come with Android Auto, which enables easy access to Google Maps, Google Voice Search, and Google Play Music through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen. It will also come with Apple CarPlay, which will make it possible for iPhone users to gain access to Messages, Apple Maps, phone and Apple Music either through the Uconnect touchscreen or Siri voice control.

Additional standard features include a 3.5-inch instrument cluster display as well as a six-speaker audio system and Active Noise Cancellation.

The L trim consists of a bench seat for the second row and a Stow ‘n’ go for the bench seat in the third row. The LX comes with a bit more features highlighted by captain’s chairs instead of bench seats. With this model, there is also the optional cold-weather package that has heated seats and steering wheel.

Even though the LXi is not available to the public, it comes with leatherette seats, second-row retractable sunshades, remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a roof rack. In case you happen to rent one, a second-row Stow ‘n’ Go also makes an appearance in the model.

The interior of both the L and LX models comes standard with cloth, available in either black or brown. The LXi model comes standard with leatherette seats. Some of the available exterior colors include; billet metallic coat, velvet red pearl coat, bright white clearcoat, and granite crystal metallic coat, among others.

With the 2020 Voyager being identical to the Pacifica lower-trim minivans; it would be interesting to see how Chrysler will choose to distinguish the two models.
