2020 Infiniti QX80 Takes on the Rebelle Rally With Alice Chase Onboard
The Rebelle Rally begins tomorrow. A 2020 Infiniti QX80 will be amongst the entry field with Team Wander Women aboard when it starts. If the rally’s history holds true, this year will again be long and dangerous for all the teams as they undertake a crossing from Nevada to California. It is a trip that will cover over 1,000 miles and see diverse terrains aboard stock vehicles. This off-road experience can be grueling for vehicles and teams alike. Infiniti is sure its QX80 won’t have a problem, and Alice Chase, from Team Wander Women, is excited to start the event. This will be off-roading at its best.
The Rebelle Rally
The Rebelle Rally is a long-distance navigation challenge. Teams can not use cell phones or GPS devices. They can only use a compass and maps for guidance. The path of the event will take the teams through dirt roads, over sand dunes, barren land, and anything else along the route for multiple days. The teams have checkpoints to find in the process. The organizers say,
“…you drive and navigate your way to checkpoints across the American West. And best of all, you get to leave your cell phone, computer, GPS, & headaches behind. It’s all about YOU. And your endless abilities.”
The Infiniti QX80
The Infiniti QX80 is the largest SUV of the Infiniti lineup. As an Infiniti, it has luxury appointments and feel throughout the cabin. Heated seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, steering wheel controls, and a touchscreen infotainment system will make sure that comfort, tunes, and driver-aid systems are handily available and configurable. The vehicle also has the capability for the third row.
Power for the QX80 comes from a powerhouse engine. The 5.6-liter V8 pumps out 400 hp, can tow up to 8,500-lbs, and is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. This powerplant moves the sizeable vehicle from 0-60 mph in under six seconds. So, this big Infiniti QX80 is no slouch.
Infiniti Qx80 team member Alice Chase
Alice Chase has been an auto enthusiast for many years. Of her automotive experiences, she encourages people to keep reaching for goals. She writes in her blog, “You may have to train or make modifications, but nothing is impossible. Like the time I went to Skip Barber Racing School courtesy of Fiat, and became a racecar driver for a day.” Additionally, MotorBiscuit was once fortunate enough to have her on its team of writers. For the Rally, she is on the Wander Women Team – Team #142 with Nicole Wakelin, who is also an accomplished journalist covering the automotive field. You will be able to follow their progress and that of all the teams through the Rebelle Rally journey at www.rebellerally.com/live once the competition begins tomorrow.
The Infiniti QX80 is certainly capable on the road. But, Infiniti also wants to show off its off-road capable chops. Just because is looks comfortable on pavement does not mean that pavement is the only thing the SUV can handle. To that end, the QX80 piloted and navigated by Team Wander Women, will take on the Rebelle Rally with gusto to prove the vehicle’s prowess. Yet, they will also do it in luxurious quiet comfort. Don’t be fooled though. The Rebelle Rally is no joke. The team will be forced to overcome some serious challenges along the way. Best wishes to all competitors.
