The 2021 BMW 7 Series Is the Roomiest Sedan to Buy This Year, Says U.S. News
When it comes to space, sedans probably aren’t going to be that roomy compared to something like an SUV. With that being said, there are some big sedans on the market, and some of them are very spacious. Here’s a look at the 2021 BMW 7 Series, which may just be the roomiest sedan on the market this year.
The 2021 BMW 7 Series is the roomiest sedan of them all
According to U.S. News’ list of the roomiest sedans of the year, the BMW 7 Series took home the top prize. It is the roomiest sedan of the year, but just barely. U.S. News said that the 7 Series has 41.4 inches of front legroom and 44.4 inches of rear legroom, and those specs were slightly better than the runner-up, the 2021 Audi A8.
U.S. News wrote that the A8 has 41.5 inches of front legroom and 44.3 inches of rear legroom, so overall, it was a pretty close race between those two German luxury sedans. That said, both the 7 Series and the A8 are significantly roomier than the car that got third place. The 2021 Honda Accord came in third, and it has 42.3 inches of front legroom but only 40.4 inches of rear legroom.
So, due to that size difference, U.S. News declared that the 7 Series is the roomiest sedan of the year. However, it’s not just a spacious car, it’s also a very luxurious BMW.
An overview of the 2021 BMW 7 Series’ luxurious interior
To be clear, according to U.S. News, the BMW 7 Series is roomy in other ways too. This is because of its above-average cargo capacity, which tops out at about 18.2 cu. ft. U.S. News said that the 7 Series’ trunk was one of the largest trunks available for a sedan, but obviously it doesn’t really compare against the cargo capacity of an SUV.
What does compare, however, is just how luxurious the 7 Series’ interior is. U.S. News wrote that the 7 Series has a “stylish interior,” and that BMW used “quality materials” for most of the cabin.
Furthermore, not only does the 7 Series have spacious seats, but those seats are fairly luxurious too. That’s because the 7 Series has leather upholstery, heated front seats, and heated front armrests – all as standard.
There are options that’ll improve the 7 Series’ comfort levels as well. For example, BMW offers an optional rear center console as well as a rear foot rest. As far as technology goes, the 7 Series is also very advanced. It comes with a 10.2-inch touchscreen display as standard as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a navigation system. There are also plenty of high-tech safety features, such as a surround-view parking camera system and automatic emergency braking, just to name a few things.
The 2021 model will cost you a lot
Due to all of those standard features and more, the BMW 7 Series is not going to be a cheap or affordable car. It’s a BMW after all, and as such, it will be rather expensive to buy and own.
U.S. News said that the 7 Series starts at almost $87,000, and of course, there are plenty of options that’ll increase its price. The most expensive configuration, the M760i, will cost well over $150,000. But obviously, it’ll include upgrades that’ll make that price tag reasonable.
That said, since it’s a BMW, most of those changes have to do with the 7 Series’ performance. However, BMW does offer a few options that’ll improve the car’s interior. For example, a rear-seat infotainment system is available, and it’ll feature two 10-inch touchscreens and a tablet, according to U.S. News.
