2021 Chevy Equinox: The Biggest Changes Coming for the SUV
The Chevy Equinox is getting a makeover for 2021. It will be the third model year for this particular generation, and the new year will bring fresh enhancements to the best-selling SUV. You may just decide to wait on buying a new Equinox to take advantage of the upcoming changes for the 2021 model.
What’s coming for the Chevy Equinox in 2021
New features like automatic parking assist are optional for the Premium trims. Other already available options, once reserved for the Premium trim, are now available in the standard LT trim like a surround-view camera and adaptive cruise control. Chevy Equinox fans will continue to have their choice of front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive capabilities.
The most significant change coming for the Chevy Equinox in 2021 is the introduction of the new RS trim level. Already available for Chevrolet’s Blazer and Traverse models, the sporty RS trim will bring similar equipment upgrades to the popular Equinox, including turbocharged 1.5L and 2.0L engines.
The RS will have a signature blackout look with a dark grille and finishes. Think sharp and sporty as the RS brings unique badging, 19-inch wheels, and black upholstery with red contrast stitching. The RS Trim is intended to replace the current Midnight Edition and Sport Edition packages that will no longer be available for 2021.
The Chevy Equinox will also get a visual makeover
Fans can expect design and visual differences for the 2021 model year makeover. The front fascia is noticeably changing, and to some, it resembles a more ‘Camaro-like’ appearance. The headlights are slimming down while the fog lights are opening up. The grille will change to a more horizontal shape, and its top will extend slightly in toward the lighting. The back end will see changes in the taillights as well. Those opting for the Premier model Equinox will see fresh designs on the 19-inch wheels too.
How much will a 2021 Chevy Equinox set you back?
Chevrolet hasn’t released official pricing for the 2021 Chevy Equinox just yet. Based on existing 2020 pricing, some estimate the L and LS models will run between $25,000 and $27,000. The Premier and sporty new RS model will more than likely fall within a $33,000 to $35,000 range.
What about the 2020 Equinox?
You may be on the fence right now about buying a 2020 Chevy Equinox or waiting until the 2021s come out before purchasing. The 2020 Equinox may suit your needs just fine with some of the best fuel economy metrics in its space, smooth ride, and intuitive infotainment. New for this model year, many of the safety and driver assistance features became standard, including lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. Forward automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection are also new for 2020 Equinox models.
Chevy Equinox enthusiasts won’t have to wait too long. Chevy’s top-selling SUV, with a coming makeover for 2021, is set to go on sale this fall. If you prefer not to wait until later this year for the reworked model, you can buy the 2020 Equinox now, starting at around $24,995.
Since more features will be added to the 2021 model as standard, it might be worth the wait in terms of value. And, everyone’s pretty excited to see what the RS is going to be like to drive too. Ultimately, whether you buy an Equinox today or wait to visit the dealership this fall, you won’t be disappointed.
