Gold is a particularly dramatic color. The already dramatic Dodge Charger has just made gold one of its new paint color options. The Charger has been around since 1966 and been a hit since its second generation arrived in 1968. After evolving, disappearing, and then returning in 2006, the Charger in its current form has been very popular. Will the gold paint attract even more buyers? Here’s which trims of the 2021 Dodge Charger the color is available on.

The new Gold Rush paint color

The new Gold Rush paint color became an option for the Dodge Challenger toward the end of 2020, says MotorTrend. Dodge originally rolled out this color for its 50th Anniversary Challenger special edition, but the paint is now available for the larger Dodge Charger as well.

The gold color proved popular on the Challenger, which helped encourage Dodge to offer it for the Charger as well. “The customer response to the Dodge Challenger Gold Rush exceeded our expectations,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge CEO, as reported by Muscle Cars & Trucks. “We’re sticking to that successful Dodge formula of proliferating our most popular options across the lineup and giving Charger customers, who want the Gold Rush color, the option to have it on their four-door muscle car.”

Which 2021 Dodge Chargers can wear Gold Rush?

The Gold Rush paint comes with a Satin Black roof, hood, and rear decklid. MotorTrend found that the black provides a nice contrast to balance out the bright gold paint. Since Gold Rush isn’t going to be everyone’s favorite, the Charger also comes in other vintage-inspired paint colors: Frostbite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green, and Go Mango. The Gold Rush paint color will be available later this spring.

Buyers can select the Gold Rush paint color on the 2021 Dodge Charger R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat, and SRT Hellcat Redeye models, says MotorTrend. The SRT Hellcat Redeye is a new trim for 2021. These are all trims that come with V8 engines.

The 2021 Dodge Charger

Muscle Cars & Trucks points out that sales of the Dodge Charger have “led the full-size sedan segment in the U.S. for eight consecutive years.” U.S. News doesn’t rank the car very highly though. While it has plenty of space and lots of powerful engine options, it has very low predicted reliability ratings.

The Dodge Charger’s four doors separate it from the Dodge Challenger. Its interior quality isn’t fantastic, but it does offer comfortable seats and good handling. Its infotainment system is easy to use. A 7-inch touchscreen is standard, but an 8.4-inch touchscreen is available. Several packages are available to customize the Charger’s appearance and performance.

The 2021 Charger has lots of great engines. It comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine in the SXT trim. With 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, it has plenty of power and acceleration. One of the optional V8 engines turns the Charger into a really powerful muscle car.

There are actually five available engines in addition to the base engine. The 3.6-liter V6 has 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque and is available in the SXT AWD, GT, and GT AWD trims. The 5.7-liter V8 generates 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque and is available in the R/T trim. The 6.4-liter V8 produces 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque and is available in the Scat Pack trim.

The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 has 717 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque and is available in the Hellcat trim. The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 generating 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque is available in the SRT Hellcat Redeye. All the engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available.

For advanced safety features, the 2021 Charger only comes with a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. More features are available though, including adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.

The 2021 Charger has a lower-than-average starting price for its class, with a starting price of $29,995. However, it also has the most expensive trim for the class as well, with the new SRT Hellcat Redeye, which starts at $78,595.

The 2021 Dodge Charger continues to be an impressive muscle car, and now buyers can pick Gold Rush paint on some of the most powerful trim levels.
