The 2021 Easter Jeep safari here again. This is one of the coolest events in the whole of the automotive industry. Jeep brings out all manner of 4×4 concepts every year, but they are typically based on the Jeep Wrangler. This year, like every year, we will see new versions of Jeeps as we have never seen before – well, some retro-inspired 4x4s might look a little familiar. 

2021 Easter Jeep Safari is home to the coolest Jeep Wranglers in the world

As has become tradition, the Easter Jeep Safari will take place in the 4×4 Mecca, Moab, Utah. It will run from Saturday, March 27, through April 4th. This is when Jeep not only shows off its coolest 4×4 concepts, but it runs them like snot through the red dirt of the Moab desert. 

This year Jeep is bringing three previously released Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator concepts from 2020; the Gladiator Farout, the Wrangler Rubicon 392, and the Gladiator Top Dog. Although we have already seen these, they still rule, but more importantly, there are four brand new models that we haven’t seen before. 

Meet the new Jeep Wranglers for the Safari

The first up and likely the most anticipated of the lot is the Jeep Wrangler Magneto EV. I almost thought Jeep wouldn’t do the EV thing, but they did, and I’m happy to see it. 

Jeep has been teasing this one for a month or so, and now we finally get to see it. As Car and Driver mentions, the Magneto is powered by a set of four battery packs adding up to a total of 70 kWh. The JeEp makes 273 pound-feet of torque and 285 horsepower. Jeep couldn’t help but throw a manual transmission in the EV. Honestly, I won’t even try to explain nor understand how this works, but Jeep says it does. 

The Magneto will do its 0-60 sprint in only 6.8 seconds. I won’t argue that that is fast, per se, but I will argue it’s fast for a Jeep Wrangler. 

Of all the Wrangler concepts, this one likely has the best shot to become a production model. 

The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Red Bare is bad to the bone

This big ol’ Jeep pickup is there to hold the rest of the pack down with its low-end diesel heart. The Red Bare is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is specially designed to shift at lower rpm and has a crawling gear ratio set at 91:1. This big boi only makes 260 horsepower but makes a bumping 442 lb-ft of torque. 

Of course, this big brute rolls with Dana 44 heavy-duty axels in front and outback. It rides on 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires and has factory steel bumpers with a Warn winch and a front bumper grille guard.

The prettiest of them all; the 1968 Jeepster Commando Beach

Jeep couldn’t resist taking a few steps back since it conceded and made the electric Wrangler. So we get this thing right here. If the Jeepster Commando beach doesn’t make you smile, you need to get it together. 

This little cutie has no roof and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 340 horsepower and 396 lb-ft of torque. I’d wager no one (including myself) was expecting power numbers like that! This monster four-banger is making 25 percent more horsepower than the production model, says Car and Driver.

One trend most Jeepers won’t be happy to see is that this is yet another with the eight-speed automatic transmission. Is Jeep trying to tell us something? If Jeep is going to take away the manual transmission, at least give us these red seats in every truck. 

The Orange Peelz is the last of the new boys

This two-door Jeep Wrangler seems normal-ish at first glance, but take a closer look, and this thing aint got no windows. It’s kind of cool, but also a bit lazy, right? This one has the prototype JPP half-doors and a single-piece glass sunroof. Jeep also added a pair of LED lights. 

Overall this one doesn’t really seem necessary when the other ones are so different and exciting. Even with the silly orange one, this year’s Easter Safari is shaping up to be super rad.
