The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport’s 5th Recall Involves Its Moonroof
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport hasn’t been out for that long, and yet it’s already undergoing its fifth recall. That’s quite a lot of recalls for a new SUV, and the addition of another one isn’t good news for 2021 Ford Bronco Sport owners. The latest 2021 Ford Bronco Sport recall is due to its moonroof. The moonroof may detach on its own, which is a problem you’d want to have fixed straight away.
What is wrong with the Bronco Sport roof?
The most recent Bronco Sport recall involves the moonroof. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is recalling the Bronco because the moonroof could fall off. Obviously, this isn’t the kind of problem you want to have in your SUV. How does it happen? The primer used to bond the moonroof frame to the Bronco Sport body wasn’t given enough time to dry. This means that the bond isn’t as secure as it could be.
Because the bond between the moonroof and the body of the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport isn’t as strong as it should be, the moonroof may detach. This could happen because of the normal vibrations from driving or something more severe, like an accident. Not only could this be dangerous for the passengers of the Bronco Sport, it could be dangerous and possibly even deadly for other motorists.
What Broncos are recalled?
This most recent Ford Bronco Sport recall impacts 1,000 2021 Bronco Sports built between April 27 and May 25, 2021. It’s just a small number of Bronco Sports – about 233 – that weren’t given enough time to dry before the moonroof was installed on the SUV. Still, Ford will be recalling all 2021 Bronco Sports potentially affected, so that they may catch them all.
This isn’t the only Ford SUV affected by the moonroof problem. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E also has a recall for the same problem. Both the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport and 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E are produced at the same plant in Mexico.
Are there any other recalls on the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?

According to Auto Blog, other Ford Bronco recalls include inadequate lube in the rear-drive unit, as well as a problem with suspension bolts. The third Bronco Sport recall involved incorrect lower control arms and the most recent recall before the moonroof was because of a leaky fuel delivery module.
