Ford is releasing bug fixes for the 2021 Ford F-150 and Mustang Mach-E to correct problems with the zone lighting and Android Auto connectivity issues. The Android Auto update is expected to roll out in June.

Apple CarPlay will also receive an upgrade in June to display turn-by-turn directions in the instrument panel and improvements to the built-in native navigation system. Also, the digital owner’s manual will become easier to access with the touchscreen.

The FordPass app is getting a few additional enhancements as well. The remote vehicle setup will allow users to create profiles with their favorite settings in the app.

For example, you can set your favorite radio presets, and the information will be saved in the cloud for the vehicle. The 2021 Mustang Mach-E will gain updated trip-tracking features to display battery usage data too.

What new features do the F-150 and Mustang Mach-E get?

One of the most anticipated new features for the 2021 Ford F-150 and Mustang Mach-E includes the new BlueCruise hands-free driving software. This update will be provided to the models that have the corresponding hardware and requires a software purchase.

According to Automotive News, the BlueCruise system costs $600 to use for three years. The vehicles also require a driver-facing camera. This way, the hands-free driving system will only be engaged if the driver is paying attention.

Plus, Ford is partnering with Amazon to enhance its Amazon Alexa connectivity for vehicles equipped with the Sync 4 system. This update will occur later this fall and will be for the Bronco, Edge, Mustang Mach-E, and F-Series Super Duty heavy-duty trucks.

The Ford over-the-air updates are known as Power-Up updates. They can occur in the background while the system is running. However, some updates may require the system to reboot.

Ford recommends scheduling update times for overnight or during periods when the vehicle isn’t in use. Some of these updates may occur in as little as two minutes, but others could take much longer.
