One of the most often personalized vehicles on the market is the pickup truck. So, when the new 2021 Ford F-150 pickup truck started arriving on dealer lots, as expected, people wanted to customize them. The only problem is that the newly designed F-150 is so new that few aftermarket companies offer products to support the new platform.

Aftermarket for the 2021 Ford F-150 pickup

Lack of aftermarket support is changing, of course. The Ford F-150 pickup truck is one of the manufacturer’s best selling models. So, it is important to Ford that the redesigned truck hit the ground running. To that end, Ford likely hopes that the aftermarket industry will embrace the truck quickly and is probably providing test vehicles for different tuners.

A YouTuber with the channel called AutoVlog recently purchased a 2021 Ford F-150. He does not like to leave vehicles stock. He previously had an older version of the pickup. It was customized with a supercharger, lift kit, tint, wider tires and wheels, heavy-duty front bumper, and other items. So, his hope in purchasing the new truck was to start customizing the new platform similarly. 

The host of AutoVlog, whom we will call Mike, ran into a problem with his customization dreams, though. Right now, few companies are available to achieve his vision of what the F-150 pickup truck should look like. But, he knows the aftermarket will eventually catch up to the release of the newly designed truck. In the meantime, he has ordered a few of the available products that he can find for his new truck.

Lift kits are available for the 2021 Ford F-150 pickup

Sadly, the companies that Mike has found products with also have to deal with slow delivery timelines due to the global health crisis. So, Mike’s 2021 F-150 dreams are going to come to fruition, albeit very slowly. Having said that, one product that he has moved forward with is a lift kit. 

Mike often vacations in Destin, Florida. On his way down there from the Pittsburgh area last week, he stopped in at a dealership that does custom work in Alabama. That’s where he signed up for a lift kit for his new F-150 pickup. Of course, he was offered a loaner vehicle while his own truck got worked on. That loaner is claimed to be the world’s first 2021 Ford F-150 with a six-inch lift kit and rolling on 37-inch tires. The video of that truck is below.

The lifted truck appears to be a 2021 Ford F-150 XL SuperCrew configured with the FX4 off-road 4×4 package. According to the manufacturer’s website, a truck configured in such a manner comes equipped with an electronic-locking rear-axle, FX4 body decals, floor liners, hill descent control, off-road-tuned front shocks, Rock Crawl mode, and skid plates. The upgrade package places the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price at roughly $46,000.

Pricing for the lift kit

It is not all about the truck, of course. The lift kit and its installation are additional. The custom shop’s website in the dealership places the six-inch lift kit value at either $1,999.98 or $3,793.03, depending on whether coil-over shocks are used. Installation is not included.

Overall, the installed lift kit looks sharp. The lift kit on the truck in the video is complemented with Fuel wheels at all four corners and fresh rubber. Upon receiving the truck, Mike continued on his trip to Destin. So, he will almost certainly be able to provide feedback on his next video concerning what the ride quality is like with the lift kit on the loaner 2021 F-150.
