The Ford F-150, though it has its good and bad reviews across the board, is a trusted vehicle. It’s America’s favorite truck for decades and it is a favorite across the globe as well. It’s a fantastic family car and a workhorse towing machine. Will we see a 2021 Ford F-150?
As of today, it comes bare in the base model and tripped out with new tech and plush leather when you opt for the top. It’s both affordable and expensive depending what you choose, which is why it’s the most sold truck in America.
The new Ford F-150 was set to release this year and hit production for 2021. It has been in need of an update for a couple year now. But now that is delayed, according to Autoblog.
The 2021 Ford F-150
Autoblog recently released some new info about the upcoming 2021 Ford F-150. Apparently, the all-new F-150 generation is bringing a lot to the table. It’s supposed to offer options galore –– six all new engines.
One of these engines, according to the forum the Autoblog sourced for their article, will be a 3.5 twin turbo V6 that’s thought to also power the hybrid version in addition to the electric motor.
Additionally, Ford released news that this new 2021 F-150 will be closely followed with electric variants as a part of this emerging F-150 generation. The hybrid version, as mentioned before, is meant to release as a 2021 option. Then, no earlier than the year 2022, a fully electric version and a new and improved Raptor.
When will we see the new Ford F-150?
The F-150 information that Autoblog draws from was posted in a forum dedicated to the F-150’s fourteenth generation. The administrator for the forum has given several new dates for upcoming 2021 Ford F-150 production.
Due to the coronavirus(COVID-19), factories have been idle. Projected resume dates are targeted for May 18 for both Ford and other Detroit based factories for whom production has screeched to a halt since March.
The last day to order a 2020 Ford F-150, according to Autoblog, is the 29th of May. This could mean an official reveal is coming up. Though it will most likely be a digital reveal rather than a media event held in person, lookout for the 2021 reveal later on this year.
When will the 2021 F-150 go into production?
Autoblog states that the Gen 14 Forum has reported that the launch date for the 2021 Ford F-150 has been pushed back over a month. And that’s not just for one plant. Neither of the two factories where the Ford truck is manufactured are set to resume production of the new F-150 until at least a month past the original production date.
It’s said that Ford will now begin production of the 2021 F-150 will be delayed from a set date of August 27 all the way to September 28. That is at Ford’s truck plant in Dearborn, Michigan.
The other assembly plant in Kansas City has been delayed from September 14 to October 26. That’s a pretty hefty delay. Ford is definitely feeling the economical effects of the global crisis pretty hard at this point.
What else is new on the 2021 Ford pickup?
It’s looking like it will be a while yet until we see the unveiling of Ford’s new F-150. The way things are looking now, this redesigned truck with a nw grille look and more modern front fascias. The “sculpted body” of this Ford pickup truck should be entirely new and exciting.
Additionally, its fresh infotainment center with two size options on its screen –– an 8 inch and a 15 inch –– will have have to wait to be admired until it finally hits production.
