Does the 2021 Ford F-150 have a V8?

There are more engine options available for the 2021 Ford F-150 than you might expect, but among those options, there is a V8 engine available. The 5.0 liter V8 engine option offers a decent amount of power, 400 hp, and torque, 410 lb-ft, but it isn’t the most powerful engine option available.

Regardless of engine option, every new F-150 comes with the same 10-speed automatic transmission, and, according to Edmunds, with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

There are more turbocharged engine options for the F-150

If you want the V8 engine for the 2021 Ford F-150 for sheer power alone, you may be surprised to know that there are options that offer more torque. There are several options for turbocharged V6 engines that can offer slightly better fuel economy and almost as much power. The diesel option for the F-150 itself isn’t a V8 engine, but rather a 3.0 liter V6 which, although it offers less horsepower, 250hp to be exact, it does offer more torque, 440 lb-ft.

There are also several smaller turbocharged engine options too, such as the 2.7 liter V6 and 3.0 V6, which still offer decent power and performance for daily tasks and towing. With the lineup, there is a bit a variety in options, but they all feature a V6 or V8 engine, which can give some buyers a sigh of relief.

The hybrid power train offers the best of both worlds

What is more surprising is that both the diesel option and V8 option of the 2021 Ford F-150 pale in comparison to the hybrid drivetrain. Gasoline-powered engine purist may be disappointed by this, but there is no arguing that, if you’re looking for the most horsepower and torque, the hybrid drivetrain is the best option this year.

The hybrid option boasts a turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 engine paired with an electric motor and battery pack. What makes it impressive is that the system as a whole provides the car with 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque.

So, for V8 enthusiasts, you can still opt to get the 2021 Ford F-150 with a V8 engine, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best option to get. Unfortunately to some, the hybrid drivetrain clearly out does the V8, and not just in fuel economy like most people would expect.
