With SUVs’ ever-growing popularity comes a heightened demand for luxury options. The GV80 is the first luxury SUV from Genesis, and this midsize crossover offers a dizzying array of trims and packages. Here’s everything you need to know to decide which GV80 trim is right for you.

The Genesis GV80’s base model and options

The 2021 Genesis GV80 offers three powertrain options: a 2.5-liter inline-four rear-wheel drive, a 2.5-liter inline-four all-wheel drive, and a 3.5-liter V6 all-wheel drive. For each of its powertrain options, the GV80 is then available in three levels: Base, Advanced, or Prestige.

MotorTrend praises the base trims, particularly with the standard rear-wheel drive option. This trim starts at $48,900 and offers an expansive list of standard features. They include automatic high beams, heated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and a 14.5-inch infotainment display.

Upgrading the base trim to the 2.5-liter all-wheel-drive powertrain will bump the MSRP to $54,650. This level includes every feature found in the rear-wheel-drive option, plus several other goodies. Expect ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof.

Finally, the GV80’s base level for the 3.5-liter V6 comes in at about $59,650. This option comes with the same features as the 2.5-liter all-wheel-drive powertrain. The only difference here is power: The V6 makes 375 hp, while the two other powertrains make 300 hp each.

Upgrading with the Genesis GV80 Advanced package

Each of the Genesis GV80’s powertrain options is also available with the Advanced package. This option for the 2.5-liter rear-wheel drive starts at approximately $52,800. It adds several luxury features, including a panoramic sunroof, rear window sunshades, ventilated front seats, and digital key capabilities.

In the next level, all-wheel-drive powertrain, the Advanced adds larger 20-inch wheels. Leather seating comes standard, as do a range of extra safety features, such as remote smart parking assist and rear collision-avoidance braking. This option adds about $4,350 to the $54,650 base price.

The V6 powertrain offers an Advanced package for an additional $5,200, as well as an Advanced+ package if you opt for the twin-turbo engine. Added features include heated second-row seats and a head-up display.

The most luxurious package: Prestige

Finally, the Genesis GV80 offers three Prestige packages for maximum luxury. The Prestige adds $8,150 to the base price of the 2.5-liter rear-wheel-drive powertrain. Leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, and remote parking assist come standard.

Next, the Prestige package adds $8,750 to the 2.5-liter all-wheel-drive option. This package comes with all the features of the lower-level Prestige package, plus 22-inch wheels and a flat-tire mobility kit.

Finally, we have the priciest trim level available, the V6 all-wheel drive with the Prestige package. It comes out to $71,450. This trim includes all the features of the other trim levels, plus Nappa leather upholstery, power-closing doors, and power-adjustable second-row seats.

Which trim level is best?

Ultimately, the best trim level for you depends on how much luxury you’re willing to pay for. With a starting price under $50,000, the base model offers abundant features that will likely be more than enough for most buyers.

But if you’re looking for a slightly more luxurious experience, MotorTrend recommends the V6 with the Advanced package. This is less expensive than the Prestige but still offers extra features like a head-up display and comfortable seats.

The number of options available for the Genesis GV80 can feel somewhat overwhelming. However, with a base model as excellent as this, it’s hard to go wrong no matter how you choose to upgrade.
