Infiniti is the luxury arm of Nissan, and like any other luxury automaker, there are a lot of high-quality cars in Infiniti’s lineup. One of the best luxury cars that Infiniti sells right now is the Q60, and it’s a luxury sedan that has a great interior and some powerful engines. That being said, while the 2021 Q60 looks fine on paper, there aren’t many reasons to buy it over other options in the segment.

The 2021 Infiniti Q60 isn’t bad, but it is mediocre

Like U.S. News wrote, overall, the Q60 is fairly solid for the small luxury car segment. It has an overall score of 7.4 out of 10, which puts it in the middle of the segment.

This mediocre score is largely because the Q60 does well in some areas, but poorly in others. One of the Infiniti’s best features is its performance, as the Japanese luxury automaker gave the car some powerful engine options.

The 2021 Q60 starts with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that gets 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. It has an optional engine that’s also a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, except it gets 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque instead. Both engines are paired to a seven-speed automatic, and thanks to how well the car handles, the Q60 is a fun car to drive. 

That said, the Q60 is a small luxury sedan, so it has some issues that come with the territory. It only seats four, and the rear seats aren’t going to be spacious. It also has a tiny trunk. Overall though, these flaws aren’t huge issues as few people buy luxury small sedans for those qualities. 

Infiniti just did not give the 2021 Q60 enough tools to compete with its rivals

Most luxury car shoppers want cars that are powerful, fun to drive, and have a luxurious interior. The Q60’s problem is that there are a lot of luxury cars that excel in those areas, and they can be cheaper too.

The 2021 Q60 started at about $42,000, while many of its luxury competitors are significantly cheaper. The best luxury car in the segment, according to U.S. News, is currently the Acura Integra, and it starts at about $30,000.

Even if folks don’t care about the price, there are German luxury sedans that are in the same price range that are also simply superior. The Audi A4, for example, starts at about $40,000, and it drives well while having a “lavish interior.”

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class starts at about $44,000, and it can be equipped with a 503-hp engine. Just like the Audi, the Acura, and many other luxury sedans, the C-Class excels in almost every area.

The 2022 Infiniti Q60 is the last model year of the car that will be available

As a result of those factors, there are simply not many good reasons to buy a Q60. Infiniti seems to agree with that idea, as the Japanese luxury automaker recently killed off the Q60. The 2022 model year will be its last model year, and unfortunately for Infiniti fans, there are no changes for the 2022 version compared to the 2021 version. Its starting price tag is unchanged as well.

A 2021 Q60 will be worth less now due to depreciation, however. Shoppers are currently buying them for about $35,000, according to U.S. News. That’s a $7,000 price difference from the starting price tag of a brand-new one, but it’s still more expensive than many other luxury sedan options. As such, unless you’re an Infiniti fan, there’s just not a good reason to buy a Q60, new or used.
