The 2021 Mazda3 Turbo is surprisingly good without many negatives 

The base model of the 2021 Mazda3 begins at about $20,650. If you add the Premium Plus package and upgrade to the turbo engine, then the price climbs to about $33,000. The upgrade is definitely worth it if you want a comfortable sedan that’s engaging. 

You get an engine that can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, according to Capo Mazda. for this price. Plus, you get paddle shifters, a 360-degree rearview camera, leather upholstery, rain-sensing windshield wipers, radar cruise control, 18-inch alloy wheels, and more. 

Pro: The Mazda3 Turbo is agile 

I took the 2021 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo to downtown Asheville and loved how easy it was to navigate through tight areas. This sedan has an excellent turning radius and can quickly back in and out of crowded parking lots. 

The 360-degree backup camera provides an excellent view of your surroundings. Also, the parking sensors aren’t too jumpy. The beeps aren’t jarring if you start to get too close to something. In gravel parking lots, the Mazda3 maintained a smooth ride. It didn’t slip or slide. 

Con: Passenger space is limited 

The Mazda3 sedan felt like it might be a little tight for families. At 5’1”, I found the backseat to be pretty snug. If taller adults are in the front, there are no kids around my height who would have enough space. 

The powered driver’s seat easily adjusts to fit different body shapes. But the passenger seat can only move forward and back. It felt a little limiting. Also, the Mazda3 is pretty low to the ground, meaning you may have to squat. 

Pro: Storage space is abundant 

I was worried that the 2021 Mazda3 Turbo wouldn’t have enough room for my items. However, there are clever storage cubbies throughout the cabin and a tray in front of the center console. Perhaps a wireless phone charger could fit there (hint, Mazda). 

Also, the trunk is surprisingly massive! It provides 13.2 cubic feet in the trunk area. Edmunds agrees that the wide opening is convenient. If you need more space, the rear seats do fold flat. However, larger child seats may be difficult to fit. 

Con: The gas tank is small 

The 2021 Mazda3 is pretty fuel-efficient. It gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 32 mpg on the highway. These figures seem right on the mark with what I was getting in the country and city. 

However, the gas tank can only hold 13.2 gallons. I had to get gas twice during my week with this car. As a daily driver, the Mazda3 sedan may have you refueling more often than expected. But on the positive side, it fills up pretty quickly. 

Pro: The 2021 Mazda3 is serene 

While you can put the 2021 Mazda3 Turbo in Sport mode to quicken its responses, the regular driving mode is pretty efficient and peaceful too. It provides more than enough passing power and a smooth ride. 

At higher speeds, tire noise does enter the cabin, but it’s not too noticeable, especially when the supportive leather seats provide relaxing comfort. Body roll is almost non-existent around curves, and the head-up display makes you feel in control. The Bose premium sound system can connect you with your favorite music or podcasts to help you forget your troubles after a long day. 

The leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter provide a nice luxury touch. People will notice the premium soft-touch materials in the cabin. Plus, you can open the moonroof for fresh air. 

While the Mazda3 Turbo might not be the best option for taller passengers, it’s great for daily drivers. It offers a relaxing environment but can turn into an engaging sporty ride with the flip of a switch. This comfortable and convenient option doesn’t have many downsides to consider.
