For example, the 2021 Kicks will run on the same engine as the 2020 Kicks – a 122-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission. Therefore, it is very likely that the 2021 Kicks will have the same 0-to-60 mph time (10.5 seconds) as the 2020 Kicks and 114 lb-ft of torque 

Furthermore, according to Car and Driver, there are only subtle changes to the exterior design of the 2021 Kicks. However, the 2021 Kicks does have an updated front end and bumper, giving it a bolder, more confident look. This also includes two different LED headlight designs, new fog lights, and LED taillights.

What’s new in the 2021 Nissan Kicks 

The new 2021 Nissan Kicks comes with some major updates to the 2020 Nissan Kicks. According to Nissan, there is a fully redesigned and updated interior-with an elegant and functional center console, updated entertainment system, and digital information displays. In addition to this, the 2021 Kicks also comes with the option for a Bose premium sound system with speakers built into headrests for a fully immersive audio experience.

Furthermore, Car and Driver describes how the 2021 Kicks comes standard with top of the line safety features. Some of these features included in Nissan’s Standard Safety Shield 360 include automatic emergency braking (including pedestrian detection), automatic rear braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, and automatic high beam assist. Therefore, the 2021 Nissan Kicks is a lot safer than previous models as these safety features were optional features in earlier years.

A brand-new infotainment system 

The 2021 Kicks comes with a revamped, upgraded infotainment system. According to Car and Driver, the 2021 Kicks comes with a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen display and the option for the 8.0-touchscreen display in higher trims. Clearly in a move to attract young drivers, the 2021 Kicks comes standard with 3 USB ports and even a USB-C port in higher trims.

According to MotorTrend, of the groundbreaking features of the 2021 Kicks is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that comes standard on all 2021 Kicks. According to Apple, Apple CarPlay allows drivers to safely operate their phones hands-free via voice control. This is similar to Android Auto, which allows drivers to control their Android phones via voice control. 

As Car and Driver describes, this move is aimed to win over young drivers who depend increasingly on their phones for navigation and music. Additional the voice control capabilities of both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow drivers to send text messages and answer calls via voice control. It is easy to see why this feature will attract a younger generation that is becoming increasingly dependent on their smartphones.

Why you should be excited about the 2021 Kicks 

Although the 2021 Nissan Kicks comes with the same meek engine as the 2020 Kicks, there is still a lot to be excited about. Especially considering numerous technological upgrades to both safety and infotainment that comes standard with the 2021 Kicks, the 2021 Kicks gives drivers premium features at a very affordable price. According to Car and Driver, the price for the 2021 Nissan Kicks is expected to start at around $20,000.
