The truck world has grown by leaps and bounds. Just a few short years ago, it felt like trucks were destined to go the way of the horse and buggy, except for those who used it for work purposes. Now the tides have turned, and trucks like the 2021 Ford F-150 and the 2021 Ram 1500 are getting the luxury treatment. 

Some might love both trucks so much they purchase each, but that’s not feasible for everyone. So which should you choose if you can only have one? 

The 2021 Ford F-150 has some surprises in store for new owners

There’s a lot to love about the new 2021 Ford F-150, and Autotrader couldn’t say enough good things about it. There are so many options available it’s impossible to list them all. 

For example, there are six engine options ranging from a 3.3-liter V6 to the PowerBoost Hybrid. Another cool feature all-new for 2021 is the generator, which can be a lifesaver if the power goes out. Add in the fact that it can tow up to 14,000 pounds, and it’s clear that the F-150 is a monster of a truck that will not be ignored.

Autotrader was disappointed with the lack of updates, as well as the high price for the upper trim levels. The review site was also less than enthusiastic about how hard parking the extremely large F-150 can be.

The starting price is $28,940, which is very affordable for a truck. Unfortunately, the price increases drastically as more options are added.

The 2021 Ram 1500 is everything a truck owner could wish for

The Ram 1500 has a lot going for it. The coil-spring rear suspension is probably one of the best features, as it gives the 1500 a more SUV-like feel while riding. 

The engine is also pretty nice, depending on which you get. Autotrader reports,

“By itself, the standard 3.6-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque is adequate but not exceptional. But when you add its new 48-volt mild-hybrid eTorque system, it transforms into a powerplant that boosts acceleration, improves fuel economy, and supports the automatic stop/start system.”

Autotrader had a few things it would change regarding the Ram 1500. It would add a regular cab to the mix, as well as cutting the price of the diesel, the TRX, and the destination charge.

In other words, most of the issues revolved around money. Considering the base price of $35,890 is nearly $7,000 more than the F-150, there are many Ram 1500 fans who would agree.

Picking the winner was no easy task

Both the Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500 have been through some major changes in order to make them bigger and better than ever. Each now has more power, interiors that are worthy of a luxury vehicle, and hefty price tags. 

While each has some amazing features that make it more than worthy of attention, Autotrader had a clear favorite, and that was the F-150. There was one area that is so insanely cool that it was impossible not to choose the F-150, and that’s the generator. It combines two items that many families really need.

In spite of losing, the Ram 1500 put up a great fight. It has enough bells and whistles to compete with any vehicle, but the ability to power your home or campsite when the power goes out was just too practical to overlook.
