The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime is a plug-in hybrid SUV from one of the most popular automakers in the world. Its starting price is $12,000 more than the standard RAV4, and $10,000 more than the RAV4 Hybrid. Is the Prime PHEV worth all that extra cash? There are only two trim levels for the RAV4 Prime, the SE and the XSE. The base SE model comes with quite a bit more than you’d expect, here’s everything included.

The Toyota RAV4 Prime SE comes with only one powertrain option. It’s a 2.5-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid engine with all-wheel drive. It uses an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, and electronic on-demand all-wheel drive. The standard RAV4 comes with three options which are all the same size non-plug-in hybrid engine in FWD and AWD, plus a hybrid option.

For exterior colors, there are a total of six options, but only two come without extra cost. Midnight Black Metallic and Silver Sky Metallic are the standard colors without paying a dime extra. The other colors are each available after adding the SE Prime Weather & Moonroof Package, which costs $1,665. The only interior color available on any RAV4 Prime is the black fabric material.

Only the afformentioned SE Prime Weather & Moonroof Package is available on this model. It comes with a heated steering wheel, rear outboard passenger heated seating, rain-sensing wipers with de-icer, a power tilt and slide moonroof, and 50 State Emissions. Keeping the Prime SE as base as possible and not adding this package saves you $1,665.

Loads of accessories are available for both the interior and exterior, but none come standard at this trim level. Highlihts of these accessories include the all-weather liner package, paint protection, mudguards, roof rack crossbars, and much more. Skipping out on most of these will save a few hundred dollars extra, and the most expensive one id $543 alone.
