2022 Chevy Colorado Beats Other Midsize Pickups in 3 Ways: Ridgeline, Gladiator, and Tacoma Buyers, Are You Jealous?
The 2022 Chevy Colorado is one of the best midsize pickup truck options on the market. Some reviewers even rate it as the best model available. In comparison to rivals, it does a few essential things better. The 2022 Chevy Colorado beats other midsize pickups in three key areas. Honda Ridgeline, Jeep Gladiator, and Toyota Tacoma buyers, are you jealous?
The 2022 Chevy Colorado has an excellent diesel option
The diesel engine is one of the main reasons MotorTrend has the 2022 Chevy Colorado at the top of its list. Unavailable on other models, a diesel is an excellent engine for many buyers. It not only delivers long-lasting power, but it gets better gas mileage than many similarly powerful options. The Chevy Colorado has three different engines from which to choose.
The three Chevy Colorado engines are a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 3.6-liter V6, and a 2.8-liter 4-cylinder diesel. Its diesel option makes 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. In addition, it uses inline-four cylinders with dual overhead camshafts, direct injection, and more. Although it isn’t available on every model, we’re glad it’s an option for those who want or need it.
Chevy Colorado: a different trim to meet everyone’s needs
Sometimes, different configurations of vehicles can get a bit confusing. However, a large number of options are always welcome. That means that customers can always get exactly what they want to meet their personal needs. The 2022 Chevy Colorado can come in three different cabin and bed configurations, for starters. They are extended cab with a long box, crew cab with a short box, or crew cab with a long box.
After that, customers must choose which of the four different trims is right for them. The options are Work Truck, LT, Z71, or ZR2. Each one can get one of the cabin and bed configurations, and the engine options change depending on the buyer’s choices. For instance, a Work Truck with a crew cab and short box can only have the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and an LT with a crew cab and long box only comes with a 3.6-liter V6.
The ZR2 trim excels in off-road driving
According to Car and Driver, the 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 is not only great off-road, but it’s also the best Colorado trim. For $43,745, owners get the most unique and versatile version of the midsize pickup truck. Exclusive equipment includes spool-valve shocks, electronic locking differentials on both axles, plus it’s lifted and widened. CAD recommends the crew cab for the bigger back seat and the V6 engine over the diesel.
The most expensive ZR2 trim gets a rear suspension with special dampers, larger all-terrain tires, and fender flares. Unique front and rear bumpers and a spray-in bed liner are also included with the top trim. While other midsize pickup trucks offer off-road trims, they don’t provide as much as the Colorado ZR2. Some, like the Honda Ridgeline, don’t have a dedicated off-road trim (yet). In 2021, KBB even named the 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 the best off-road truck over titans like the Ram TRX and F-150 Raptor.
While other midsize pickup trucks offer similar features, none have everything the 2022 Chevy Colorado offers. There are loads of options and configurations for this model, and that’s great for buyers. The diesel engine, premium trim levels that meet everyone’s needs, and the ZR2 off-road model are significant advantages. That’s how the 2022 Chevy Colorado beats other midsize pickups in three ways.
