Chevrolet knows a thing or two about making trucks. Chevy has been an integral part of the story through the history of the pickup truck and automobile in general. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is another positive chapter in that story.

How much will the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 cost?

In its review of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, Edmunds notes that the truck is priced between $39,500 and $67,600. Available in nine trim levels, the Work Truck (WT) is the most affordable option. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 is the top-of-the-line performance option. Buyers can configure the Silverado in various lengths and other options, making it a versatile choice.

Trim Pricing
Work Truck$41,195
Custom$44,795
LT$48,995
Custom Trail Boss$50,395
LT Fleet$51,095
RST$51,495

Since there are so many ways to configure the truck, many variables exist for price. Edmunds says buyers can anticipate paying around $213 a month for gas with the Work Truck trim. The average large truck costs about $283 a month in gas, which makes the Chevy a good option. Edmunds says the wide range of prices means the 2022 Silverado is a good option for buyers with various budgets.

The technology in the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is a strong point

When it comes to updated technology, the 2022 truck took a big step in the right direction. Buyers can opt for a 13.4-inch touchscreen that is easy to use and navigate. It has a high-resolution screen that works well, and Google voice recognition can help the driver without taking eyes off the road. This allows you to change the radio, adjust the air, and more without touching the screen.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration come with wireless connectivity for the truck. CarPlay looks crisp and clean on the new touchscreen. Not to mention, a few exterior cameras help park in tight spots or reverse out of a tough spot.

While the technology as a whole is positive, Edmunds didn’t have the best of luck with the adaptive cruise control. “We did experience one instance with our test truck where it unexpectedly lurched forward with the system on in stop-and-go traffic; our driver had to quickly apply the brakes to override,” Edmunds said.

Chevrolet added some extra some extra safety features this year

Some of the best safety features on the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 include Forward Collision Alert and Safety Alert Seat. Forward Collision Alert can help apply the brakes at low speeds if it detects an imminent collision. Safety Alert Seat can buzz the seat if it determines the driver is not paying attention. Teen Drive is another system that can “grade” drivers and provide a report card after a drive.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration did not rate the Chevrolet truck in all categories, but it did offer some high scores on the performed tests. Tests like the overall side crash, driver side barrier, and overall side barrier received the highest score of five out of five.

While adaptive cruise control had a slight hiccup during Edmunds’ testing of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, there is plenty to like about the truck. Since reliability is more important than ever, Chevrolet has clearly been putting effort behind the scenes.
