The 2022 Chevy Silverado RST Is Ready to Take Daytona
Someone better warn rivals because the 2022 Chevy Silverado RST is ready to settle things on the track. The redesigning Chevrolet Silverado RST NASCAR Truck Series racer is prepared to win Daytona.
The 2022 Chevy Silverado RST race ready
The 2022 Chevy Silverado RST NASCAR Truck Series racer really revs our engines. It just made its debut ahead of the Saturday Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia.
We can’t wait to see how it performs on the track when it shows up at Daytona. This redesigned truck features an updated grille and bumper that matches each trim of the recently updated 2022 Silverado for production.
Dayne Pierantoni, Chevrolet Motor Sports Program manager, shared that they have been racing the Silverado model exclusively in the NASCAR Truck Series since its inception in 1995. They have worked hard to enhance the features of the current race truck to continue to closely align with the production vehicle.
However, aside from looks, the Chevy Silverado EST that’s built on the assembly line almost shares nothing in common with the 2022 NASCAR Silverado RST that’s primarily handbuilt in race shops found in the North Carolina countryside.
How strong is the NASCAR Silverado RST?
The 2022 Chevy Silverado RST for NASCAR is powered by a 6.5-liter Illmore N1T engine that’s derived from Chevy LS architecture and runs Holly Dominator EFI. It’s paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The official horsepower rating hasn’t been revealed.
But the production truck is equipped with a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated L87 that’s paired with General Motor’s 10L80 transmission. It pumps out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Power can be sent to either only the rear wheels or all four.
While the production Silverado has updated tech, such as a 13.4-inch diagonal touchscreen, the NASCAR truck does not. IT will still run on traditional analog gauges because the Truck Series doesn’t require vehicles to use a more modern digital dash like the NASCAR Cup cars.
Is the Silverado good at NASCAR?
Yes, this truck is expected to be pretty successful. The Silverado is the most successful truck in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series History. Since it started back in 1995, Chevrolet has acquired 256 victories, 10 Manufacturers Championships, and 14 Drivers Championships.
The 2022 Chevy Silverado RST has a winning tradition to uphold. We will see how well it keeps up soon. It will make its debut during Speedweek at the Daytona International Speedway in February 2022.
If you want your personal truck to match, the production model has an MSRP of $45,600. It rides on 18-inch silver aluminum wheels and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
It includes blacked-out elements and body-colored trim pieces. You can get the body in a Double Cab, Standard Bed configuration. The lower bumper adds to the sporty design, and step-ups are located in the corners. A tonneau cover is also included.
We will keep you updated on the success of the NASCAR Silverado RST. If you would like to order a production model, they are expected to arrive in dealerships by the Spring of 2022.
