Incredibly high price tag alert! The 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 may start over $65,000. We know that the Chevy Silverado ZR2 is the most capable Silverado ever, but is it worth the steep price? Let’s see what’s included.

Rumor alert. According to GM Authority, they have sources familiar with the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2, and they suggest that it will start at $65,100. With the $1,665 destination freight charge, the price increases to $66,765.

This price feels a little steep because it’s highest than the 202 Ford F-150 Raptor, which begins at about $64,145. With the $$1,695 destination fee, the price of the Ford Raptor climbs to $65,840.

So, the Silverado ZR2 costs about $995 more than the F-150 Raptor. But on a positive note, it’s less than the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX with its $72,120 price tag. But the TRX’s higher price is understandable because of the supercharged engine that pumps out 702 hp.

Is the Silverado ZR2 worth buying?

Yes, if you want the most capable Silverado ever, then the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 is worth buying. However, some people may feel as if it lacks power. The ZR2 comes with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that provides 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is equipped with a 2.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor R could arrive soon with the 5.2-liter V8 engine that provides 750 hp in the Ford Mustang GT500.

This would put the Raptor R on the Ram 1500 TRX’s level. It has a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. So, despite being the most capable Silverado, it still seems out of its league compared to rivals.

The 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires. Front and rear electronic lockers are included to enhance traction. The high-approach steel front bumper has removable end caps.

Underbody skid plates protect the mechanicals, and the dual exhaust was repositioned to the front of the rear bumper. Plus, the truck is equipped with advanced Multimatic DSSV dampers and retuned springs to enhance front and rear suspension travel.

The ZR2 is half an inch taller than the Trail Boss models and features an 11.2-inch ground clearance. It has a 31.8-degree approach angle, 23.4-degree breakover angle, and 23.3-degree departure angle. Use the Terrain mode for one-pedal driving in the woods.

Plus, the interior has been significantly upgraded with high-quality materials, including a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster. It seems similar to the design of the GMC Hummer EV.

We’re still waiting for the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 to hit the streets and enter the wild to see how well it performs. While the price seems a little high, it could be worth it for Chevy Silverado fans. The first models are expected to arrive in spring 2022.
