Love the 2022 Chevy Suburban but don’t want to spend big bucks to fill up this massive SUV? It makes sense, especially when the price of gas is as high as it is right now. However, while the Chevy suburban may be a gas guzzler, there is one positive attribute to the amount of fuel it can take at each fill up; you won’t need to refuel very often. here’s how much gas the 2022 Chevy Suburban can hold and how far that tank will get you.

How much gas can a 2022 Chevy Suburban hold?

The 2022 Chevy Suburban can hold up to 28 gallons of gas. That’s one of the biggest gas tanks in an SUV, even a very large SUV like the Chevy Suburban. In fact, it’s the second-largest gas tank in terms of capacity, behind only the 2022 Ford Expedition Max.

The 2022 Chevy Suburban’s 28 gallon gas tank allows it to go a very respectable 448 miles on a full tank of gas. That’s excellent, and should mean that you have to fill up far less than SUVs with smaller gas tanks that will cost less to fuel.

The Chevy Suburban’s fuel economy isn’t great

The 2022 Chevy Suburban doesn’t have great fuel economy, and that’s probably no surprise. After all, it is one of the biggest SUVs out there. The Suburban gets just 11 mpg in the city, which isn’t fantastic. On the highway it’s a little better – twice as good, in fact. The 2022 Suburban gets 22 mpg on the highway. It’s worth noting that the 2022 GMC Yukon XL has the same fuel economy as the Chevy Suburban. That’s thanks to the Suburban’s 11 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Consumer Reports notes that the 2022 GMC Yukon XL has the same fuel economy.

According to fueleconomy.gov, the diesel Suburban will cost you $3,150 in gas per year. It also says that the 2022 Chevy Suburban uses 20.6 barrels of petroleum each year. In addition, its greenhouse gas rating is only a 3/10. This is not an environmentally-friendly SUV, but you probably already suspected that.

You’ll fuel up less frequently, but you’ll spend more than on other SUVs

If you buy the 2022 Chevy Suburban, fueleconomy.gov says that you’ll pay $6,500 in gas costs over the course of five years more than you’d pay for the average new car. Now, given that the Suburban is considerably larger than the average new car, this probably isn’t a surprise.

In addition, you’ll pay about $5.27 to drive 25 miles as well as $94 to fill your SUV’s tank. The 2022 Suburban can hold up to 28 gallons of gas.

Overall, the 2022 Chevy Suburban isn’t great on gas. Yet that doesn’t mean that it’s a total loss. If you buy the Suburban you’ll definitely spend more on fuel than you would in most other SUVs. Yet with its large gas tank, you’ll have to fill up less frequently than in other very large SUVs.
